Luna: Moonlight Thieves
Luna: Moonlight Thieves was a fantasy, anime-inspired MMORPG built around weapon-driven character building, real-time non-target combat, and a guild-centric PvP focus. Instead of locking players into traditional classes, it lets you shape your role by selecting from 13 primary weapons and 7 secondary weapons, each bringing its own skill set and combat style.

Luna: Moonlight Thieves Overview
Luna: Moonlight Thieves (previously known as Luna Story ELS) is a Korean MMORPG designed with a strong emphasis on guild competition and a more hands-on combat approach than many tab-target titles. Its signature combat hook is Luna Mode, a system that supports action-oriented, non-targeted attacks, pushing encounters toward positioning and timing rather than pure rotation execution.
Character identity is largely defined by gear choices rather than a fixed class structure. Players select from thirteen main weapons and seven secondary weapons, and those choices determine which skills you learn and how you contribute in both PvE and PvP. In practice, that means your “build” is closely tied to the weapon kit you commit to, and swapping playstyles comes down to changing what you wield and how you invest in those abilities.
The social side is built around an unusually detailed guild setup. Beyond simply joining for buffs or chat, players can form families, cooperate to manage shared spaces like guild manors, and participate in territory-style conflict where guilds claim and defend areas against rivals. Alongside its guild warfare, the game also includes a familiar set of Korean MMO staples, including combat pets, extensive fashion and costume options, battleground-style PvP, ranking ladders, loot drops from enemies, and character customization systems that lean into the game’s bright, anime-like presentation.

Closed Beta Date (KR): January 23, 2015
Open Beta Date (KR): Early 2016
Release Date: TBA
Development History / Background:
Originally revealed under the name Luna Story ELS, Luna: Moonlight Thieves was developed by BH Games and published by Webzen. Webzen is best known for operating and publishing several Korean online titles, including Rappelz, FlyFF, and Age of Wulin, which makes Luna a natural fit for its catalog of long-running service games. Conceptually, Luna: Moonlight Thieves was positioned as a spiritual successor to Luna Online, a separate, earlier MMORPG that was developed by EYA Interactive and later shut down.
The project’s first major milestone was its initial Korean closed beta, which was announced on December 8, 2014 and launched on January 23, 2015. A later open beta period followed, with sign-ups beginning on January 13, 2016 and running through January 24, 2016, before the game moved into open beta in early 2016. Despite the publisher’s international footprint, an English-language release was never formally announced, leaving the game’s availability largely tied to its Korean service.
