Overview

Lineage 2: Blood Oath Overview

Lineage 2: Blood Oath was a mobile MMORPG for iOS and Android designed to capture the feel of Lineage 2 in a handheld format. Instead of a wide-open class creator, character choice revolved around four race-defined, gender-locked options, Elf, Human, Kamael, and Orc. Each of these starting picks could later progress into different job routes, unlocking new skills and shifting your combat role as you advanced.

In 2016 it stood out as one of the Lineage 2 mobile projects revealed around the same time as Lineage 2: Revolution. Blood Oath positioned itself as a more faithful take on the PC experience than earlier mobile efforts, emphasizing a more interactive world and a sense of traveling through the environment rather than simply bouncing between menus. Alongside questing and leveling, the feature set included PvP, instanced challenges like dungeons, and larger encounters such as raids, all presented with high-end visuals powered by the Flexi Engine.

Lineage 2: Blood Oath Key Features:

  • Four Playable Classes – choose between Elf, Human, Kamael, and Orc, then develop your character further through job advancement and new ability sets.
  • Open Interactive World explore the world with direct character control, leaning more on manual movement than on pure interface-driven travel.
  • Lineage Franchise – a mobile adaptation built to deliver the recognizable Lineage 2 atmosphere and progression loop in a portable format.
  • Multiplayer Content – team up for dungeons and boss fights, or test builds against other players through PvP-focused modes.
  • Detailed 3D Graphics – the Flexi Engine supports colorful zones, dramatic spell effects, and a presentation that aims for a PC-like look on mobile.

Development History / Background:

Lineage 2: Blood Oath was developed and published by Snail Games (known for titles such as Age of Wushu and Taichi Panda) and produced under an official license from NCSOFT. The project was revealed on March 30, 2016, arriving about a year after Netmarble’s announcement of Lineage 2: Revolution. Where Revolution leaned into its own mobile-first approach, Blood Oath was framed as a closer match to the PC version of Lineage 2, built using Snail Games’ in-house Flexi Engine, originally created for Age of Wushu. It was planned for a late 2016 release window.
