KurtzPel Overview
KurtzPel: Bringer of Chaos is an anime-inspired online action RPG from Korean developer KOG Games, the studio known for Grand Chase and Elsword. The visual style will feel familiar if you have played KOG’s earlier titles, but KurtzPel pushes that look further with cleaner effects and a more modern presentation. Instead of a traditional open-world MMO structure, the game leans into a mission-based format, giving players focused encounters for both narrative-driven PvE and matchmaking-focused PvP.
The game launched globally in English on April 30, 2019. From the start, its identity has been tied to competitive play, with combat designed around manual execution, combo routing, and reactive defense rather than long-term character leveling advantages. PvE exists as a way to experience story beats, practice mechanics, and earn progression materials, but the overall direction clearly favors arena-style conflict.
KurtzPel Key Features:
- Make a Character That Stands Out – Robust customization tools let you shape a distinct anime-style hero, with plenty of room to fine-tune the details.
- Action Combat With Real Consequences – Fights reward good reads, clean inputs, and consistent combo execution. PvP avoids the usual pitfalls of heavy stat scaling, with no character levels or item strengthening features affecting matches.
- PvP First, PvE Still Present – Competitive modes are the centerpiece, but story missions can be tackled alone or with co-op, making it approachable for players who want some PvE between queues.
- Karma Fragment Progression – Collect Karma Fragments to adjust weapons, open up new skills, build NPC favor, and chase cosmetics that personalize your loadout and look.

Development History / Background:
First revealed shortly before G-Star 2017, KurtzPel marked KOG’s next step after the studio’s earlier successes, particularly Elsword. It runs on Unreal Engine 4, which helps explain the sharper lighting, character rendering, and flashier combat effects compared to many older anime MMOs. Although the technology could support releases on additional platforms later, KOG has consistently framed KurtzPel as a PC-centric project, while also emphasizing gamepad-friendly design as an important part of its control philosophy.
The project leadership includes a long-time studio veteran who has been at KOG since 2008, and the overall feel reflects that background, fast action, stylized characters, and a combat loop built to be replayed. With its combination of arena PvP focus, instanced PvE missions, and modern engine tech, KurtzPel positioned itself as a distinct entry among 2019-era MMORPGs. The worldwide English closed beta began on February 20, 2019, followed by a global launch on April 30, 2019.
