Devilian Mobile

Devilian Mobile was a free-to-play action MMORPG built for phones that blended the look and feel of Bluehole’s PC titles, most notably drawing clear inspiration from TERA and Devilian. Its big hook was “Devilian Mode,” a transformation mechanic that let your hero temporarily take on a demonic form, unlocking flashier skills and a burst of power during combat.

Overview

Devilian Mobile Overview

Devilian Mobile is a free-to-play mobile action MMORPG that acts as a crossover between Devilian and TERA, even including an Elin as a playable character. Players choose from three heroes, Kylar, Ayla, or Elin, and each character comes with their own weapon style, role, and a signature demonic transformation triggered through the game’s “Devilian Mode.”

Moment to moment, the game focuses on fast, ability-driven brawling where you string attacks together into combos while cutting through dense packs of enemies. It is designed around short, repeatable sessions typical of mobile RPGs, with multiple activities to rotate through, including a 120-stage single-player campaign, PvP arenas, raid encounters, and a challenge mode called the Infernal Temple. Progression revolves around improving both your normal form and your devil form by upgrading gear, selecting skills, and using the Devilstone system to shape your build.

Devilian Mobile Review

Devilian Mobile aimed to deliver a console-like action RPG loop on mobile, pairing flashy Unreal Engine 4 visuals with a straightforward, stage-based structure. In practice, its strengths were most obvious in presentation and pacing: enemies arrive in large groups, skills have punchy effects, and the demonic transformation provides a clear “power moment” that breaks up routine grinding.

The three-character roster was small, but distinct enough to make the initial choice feel meaningful. Each hero played differently in terms of range, mobility, and how they flowed through their combo strings. Where the game tended to lose some of its action-game appeal was in how often it encouraged automation. Auto-combat made progression convenient, especially for farming, but it also undercut the satisfaction of learning enemy patterns and mastering timing, which is usually the point of an action MMORPG.

Content variety was one of the better parts of the design. The campaign offered steady forward momentum, while raids and the Infernal Temple served as difficulty spikes that pushed players to care about builds, upgrades, and skill selection. PvP arenas added a competitive outlet, although like many mobile PvP modes, balance and fairness could be influenced by progression speed and spending.

Overall, Devilian Mobile was best suited for players who wanted stylish combat visuals and a familiar mobile grind loop, with the demon transformation acting as a fun twist. Those looking for a purely skill-driven action MMO experience were likely to bounce off the reliance on automated play and the pressure created by pay-to-play elements. The game is no longer playable, having shut down on November 29, 2017.

The title first ran a Korean closed beta on April 19, 2016, followed by a global closed beta on May 25, 2016. It then moved into a soft launch on September 27, 2016, rolling out in Spain, Mexico, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Netherlands, Sweden, Philippines, and Vietnam, with Canada added on September 29, 2016. A full global launch was planned for Q4 2016.

Devilian Mobile ultimately had a short lifespan. After roughly a year of service, it shut down on November 29, 2017.
