Aima Wars Overview
Aima Wars: Steampunk & Orcs was a steampunk sandbox action MMORPG that centered on piloting your own airship in a faction war. Players aligned with either the Union of Orcs or the Empire of People, then built their character through a classless skill system that rewarded specialization over predefined roles. As you trained skills, you gained access to new ship types, aircraft, weapon options, and combat utilities that shaped how you approached both PvE and PvP.
Moment-to-moment gameplay mixed ship positioning with ranged exchanges and close-range broadsides. Encounters often leaned on preparation, choosing the right loadout, managing distance, and deciding when to deploy planes versus committing your main ship to a fight. While the game largely emphasized player conflict, it also included hostile NPC threats, most notably fire-breathing dragons that could either punish careless crews or become lucrative targets when defeated.
Guild play and territorial objectives were a major pillar. Groups competed for Bastions on the central islands, strategic locations that supplied valuable crafting materials and encouraged frequent battles. In addition, players could establish settlements, adding another layer to the sandbox loop of gathering, crafting, and controlling space on the map.

- Tactical Gameplay – pressure opponents from range with aircraft support, or close the gap to deliver punishing broadside damage.
- Territorial Control – establish settlements and coordinate with guilds to contest Bastions that provide critical resources.

Aima Wars Review
Aima Wars: Steampunk & Orcs aimed for a focused kind of sandbox MMO, one where your identity came less from a traditional class choice and more from the ship, skills, and tools you invested in. The core fantasy of being an airship captain worked well in concept, and the game’s best moments came from small-scale skirmishes that rewarded positioning, coordination, and smart use of aircraft.
The classless system was also one of its strongest ideas. Rather than locking you into a rigid archetype, progression encouraged you to build toward the playstyle you wanted, whether that meant leaning into certain weapon types, improving ship performance, or unlocking new combat options. In practice, it provided a clear set of goals, and it helped the game avoid the usual MMO problem of every character within a class feeling identical.
Combat was split between automated and more hands-on, twitch-oriented play, which made it accessible while still leaving room for players who wanted more direct control. The tactical layer was less about flashy animations and more about decision-making: when to keep distance, when to commit, and how to leverage planes as pressure tools rather than treating them as a simple damage boost.
Where Aima Wars struggled was pacing and presentation. Movement and overall progression could feel slow, especially when you were trying to reach the more interesting ship and equipment unlocks. The visuals also read as dated, which made it harder for the world to sell its atmosphere, even with a setting that had clear personality.
For players who enjoy faction-based PvP and sandbox objectives like holding territory and supporting guild infrastructure, the design had the right building blocks. Still, the overall experience depended heavily on active opponents and organized groups, and without that momentum, many of the systems felt less compelling.
