Torchlight: Infinite Opens Hardcore Server The Unbound With Permadeath
Torchlight: Infinite has opened a new Hardcore Server called The Unbound as part of the ARPG’s mid-season Afterlight update. It’s available now as a seasonal event, with permadeath in place for players who want a higher-risk run.
The Unbound adds a couple of mechanics built around faster play and looser buildcrafting. Unbound – Move to Cast lets your main skill fire while you move, which should make leveling and clearing feel quicker. Unshackled Destiny removes caps on Destiny Installs, giving players more room to tune their builds for the server’s tougher fights.
The server also includes five free Unbound Compasses. Each one adds a specific bonus, but using them also makes enemies more dangerous, so they’re meant as a tradeoff rather than straight freebies.
- Unbound Arcana Compass increases the chance of Tarot Trial encounters after Arcana bosses, with completed trials also raising Secret Path spawn chances.
- Unbound Overrealm Compass makes the first Bottle Shadow you capture in the Overrealm red quality or better.
- Unbound Outlaw Compass causes Bonus Supply to trigger two extra times when applicable.
- Unbound Dark Surge Compass improves the odds that Dark Surge rewards roll as Legendary gear.
- Unbound Lunaria Compass guarantees a Scarlet Moon Incantation boss summon in Lunaria.
XD is treating The Unbound as a recurring seasonal event, though the studio hasn’t promised these mechanics will carry over to the regular servers. For now, it’s a separate place to test the new systems, chase better rewards, and accept that one bad death ends the run.
