RuneScape: Dragonwilds Is Coming to PS5 This Year
RuneScape: Dragonwilds is headed to PlayStation 5 later this year, Jagex announced during PlayStation’s latest State of Play. The open-world survival crafting RPG is already out on PC through Steam Early Access, and the PS5 version will mark Jagex’s first console release.
At launch, Jagex says Dragonwilds will be available through PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Plus Extra for subscribers. Players will need PlayStation Plus for online play, and the game can already be wishlisted on its PlayStation Store page.
Dragonwilds sends players into Ashenfall, where the loop is pretty straightforward for the genre: gather materials, build, craft gear, complete quests, level skills, and try not to get flattened by dragons. It supports co-op, so PS5 players will be able to group up rather than take on the whole survival grind solo.
The console announcement follows a strong Early Access start on PC, with Jagex previously saying the game had passed one million copies sold. The studio has also been steadily adding content, including the Dowdun Reach update in March, which brought a new region, mithril weapons, and a new stronghold challenge.
Jagex has been positioning Dragonwilds as part of a broader push to expand RuneScape beyond its long-running PC roots. The PS5 release sits alongside plans to bring the game to more service regions, including Asia-Pacific this fall after last year’s Latin America expansion.
