RuneScape adds new dyeable gear and delays its avatar beta by a few days

RuneScape has expanded its dye options again, this time adding support for Elite Dracolich Armour and the Roar of Awakening and Ode to Deceit weapons. The change is live now as part of this week’s update.

The bigger near-term change was supposed to be the Player Avatar beta, but that’s been pushed back slightly. Jagex said the beta was meant to go live today, but “last minute gremlins” forced a short delay. The studio still expects to launch the beta sometime this week, and said the full avatar update planned for later in May hasn’t changed.

The avatar rework has been one of the more persistent community requests around RuneScape’s character customization, so even a small delay will probably get some attention. Jagex says it’ll post a dedicated blog with access details once the beta is ready.

Elsewhere, Double XP is currently running and ends May 10. This is the first DXP event since November, and it also marks the last event where players can earn Tokens. After this one wraps up, any leftover Tokens will be converted into GP. The DXP Store is also being phased out, with reduced stock before it closes for good at the end of the event.

  • Elite Dracolich Armour can now be dyed
  • Roar of Awakening and Ode to Deceit weapons can now be dyed
  • The Player Avatar beta missed its planned launch day but is still expected this week
  • Double XP is live until May 10
  • DXP Tokens are being retired after this event and remaining Tokens will convert to GP

This week’s patch also includes a handful of gameplay fixes, including Revolution no longer chasing targets too long with 1-tile range weapons, a fix for Kalphite King triggering immortality multiple times, and the return of the movable in-game clock UI element.
