Razer Acquires StreamElements After Streaming Tools Company Faced Shutdown

Razer has fully acquired StreamElements, the creator tools company best known for livestream overlays, alerts, engagement widgets, and multistreaming support.

The deal comes after a rough stretch for StreamElements. The company raised more than $100 million in 2021, but earlier this year it sought emergency funding to stay open. In May, StreamElements said it would need to shut down before later saying it had found potential investors or buyers.

Razer says StreamElements will continue operating as normal for users, at least for now. The hardware company framed the acquisition as part of a broader push into creator-focused software and services, not just peripherals.

One important piece of the deal involves unpaid creator money. According to Razer, part of the acquisition payment to Live Momentum Ltd., StreamElements’ parent company, has been set aside for outstanding payments owed to creators from before the deal closed. Razer says Live Momentum has started making those payments.

No major product changes, pricing updates, or shutdowns were announced alongside the acquisition.
