Overwatch 2’s new season sets a fresh Steam concurrent player peak of 165,651
Overwatch 2 just hit a new high-water mark on Steam. SteamDB’s tracking shows the game’s latest “story-driven era” launch pushed Overwatch 2 to a new release-day concurrent player record of 165,651 on Valve’s platform, roughly doubling its previous peak.
The numbers come from SteamDB’s public charts, which log concurrent players over time. You can see the spike and the updated peak for yourself on the SteamDB charts page.
Blizzard’s phrasing around a “story-driven era” lines up with its recent messaging about putting more emphasis on narrative content going forward, though SteamDB’s data doesn’t break down what brought players back specifically. What it does confirm is simple: whatever the exact mix of changes, a lot more people jumped in on Steam this time than during prior launches.
SteamDB also isn’t a sales report, and it won’t tell you how Overwatch 2 performed on Battle.net or consoles. Still, for the Steam version in particular, it’s a clear bump in day-one interest.
