Moonbound’s First Early Access Update Adds Calder Mere, a New Dungeon, and Balance Changes
Moonbound has its first Early Access update just two days after launching on Steam. The cozy chibi MMORPG from scrolls.io entered Early Access on October 29, 2026, and its October 31 update adds a new level 20 to 30 region called Calder Mere, plus a three-player dungeon, town request boards, quality-of-life changes, and a fairly broad class balance pass.
Calder Mere is the headline addition. It’s a misty lake region east of Russet Vale, built around a flooded crater, stilt villages, glowing eggs, and a town on the rim that has fallen to something tied to a rift. Players who finish Russet Vale’s main story and reach level 20 can pick up the next thread from Quill and head east.
- A full Calder Mere story arc for levels 20 to 30, with new quests and enemies.
- The Drowned Star, a new three-player dungeon under the Mere, with normal and hard modes.
- New level 25 and 30 armor sets.
- Fishing updates tied to the Mere, including better odds for quest fish.
- Reedholm housing through a new waterfront housing street called the Moorings.
- A carriage post for fast travel after players unlock it on foot.
The update also adds town request boards in Primrose, Tavarin, Sheaf’s Cross, and Reedholm. Each board offers three daily requests for things like crops, fish, dishes, music, or crafted items. They pay experience and Town Tokens, which can be spent on town-specific furniture. The boards reset at 00:00 UTC.
For players who spend time decorating or crafting, there’s now a shipping crate for homes. It lets you sell fish, crops, dishes, instruments, fishing rods, and some stored furniture, with gold paid out the next in-game morning. New homes include one, and anyone can buy a crate from furniture sellers for 120 gold.
Combat and grouping got some practical changes too. Party members nearby now share kill credit, gold, quest progress, and experience, with some level restrictions on XP. Dungeon queues will also launch after 90 seconds even if the group isn’t full, so solo players or duos aren’t stuck waiting forever.
Class tuning hits Warrior, Magician, and Rogue, while Archer is unchanged. Magician damage is being shifted away from Arcane Beam and into other spells, Rogue scaling has been toned down at later levels, and Warrior gets stronger rank scaling on several abilities. The developer says the goal is to bring all four classes closer together from levels 15 to 30.
There are smaller but welcome fixes as well: key rebinding, UI scaling, comfort settings, better item comparisons, walk-over pickup for common loot, a sell junk button, six new emotes, and an in-game Feedback form for bugs and suggestions.
