Guild Wars Reforged adds “Bastion in the North” quests and expands Reforged Mode options
ArenaNet has pushed a new patch for Guild Wars Reforged, and it’s a pretty meaningful one if you’ve been messing with the experimental Reforged Mode. The update, titled “Bastion in the North,” adds new quest content in pre-Searing Ascalon, but it’s only available to characters playing in Reforged Mode.
According to the official post, ArenaNet also reworked how Reforged Mode (and the other Reforged-related modes) function this week. The big quality-of-life change: players can now abandon Dhuum’s Covenant and Melandru’s Accord whenever they want, instead of being locked in.
Reforged Mode itself is also less restrictive at character creation. It’s now available for new characters made in Factions and Nightfall, not just Prophecies. ArenaNet notes that Reforged Mode currently only affects skill costs inside Prophecies, and it doesn’t change balance in Factions or Nightfall. The point is you can roll a Reforged character in those campaigns and still take them into Prophecies later.
The team reiterated that Reforged Mode is still in alpha, and they’re watching how people use it. Longer-term, they plan to retire the current Reforged badge and replace it with a “Veteran” badge (or something similar) for characters that aren’t opted into Reforged Mode, applied retroactively.
Outside of the mode changes, the patch tweaks the “start mission” button and adds a makeover vendor to pre-Searing.
