Fallout 76 Adds Companion Pets on December 1
Fallout 76 is getting proper companion pets with its World Pets update on December 1, Bethesda has confirmed. The update will let players travel with Dogs, Cats, Radhogs, and even Deathclaws instead of wandering Appalachia solo.
Bethesda showed the feature in a World Pets Overview Trailer released October 22, 2026. Players will be able to choose a pet, name it, customize its appearance, and bring it along while exploring the wasteland.
These aren’t just camp decorations, either. Pets can be directed with attack, defend, and follow commands, and they’ll level up over time. Bethesda says pets will also unlock perks tied to different playstyles, though the announcement doesn’t break down the full perk list yet.
The headline addition is probably the Deathclaw, because, well, it’s a Deathclaw. But the broader pitch is simple: Fallout 76 players are getting a more traditional companion system, with creature choices ranging from cozy to extremely unsafe-looking.
