Crimson Desert shows off Pywel exploration, camp building, and crafting systems

Pearl Abyss has dropped another Crimson Desert feature overview, this time digging into the open world of Pywel and the day-to-day systems that will drive your time between big fights. The video focuses on the Greymanes’ camp, plus the survival-style crafting and gathering loop tied to it.

After an early run-in with the Black Bears, the Greymanes need a new base of operations. That’s where the camp comes in. It starts small, but you’ll be able to expand and upgrade it over time using resources and money you pick up while exploring. The camp is also set up as a practical hub: you can produce supplies via a ranch and farm, turn ingredients into food, and restock through a vendor.

It’s also where a lot of customization lives. The overview says you can tweak Kliff’s appearance there, and dye outfits and gear as well.

As you meet characters out in Pywel, some can end up at the camp to regroup, while others arrive after hearing about it. The Greymanes themselves aren’t just background NPCs either. You can send them out on tasks, like running missions to bring back specific resources, or heading to blockaded areas to start pushing back enemies before you show up.

On the crafting side, cooking sounds like a core part of staying alive and buffed, with food affecting health, stamina, and spirit. Recipes and bonfires are scattered through the world, and you’ll also be hunting and fishing for ingredients. On top of that, Crimson Desert leans into gathering flowers and insects for alchemy, plus mining and collecting materials for crafting, gear upgrades, and higher-end tools.
