ArcheAge S: Strait of Freedom announced for PC in 2027

Kakao Games and XL Games have announced ArcheAge S: Strait of Freedom, a new PC MMORPG planned for launch in 2027.

The project brings the ArcheAge series back to PC with Kim Kyung-tae as project director. Kim previously worked as lead game designer and producer on the original ArcheAge, which launched in Korea in 2013 and later came to Europe and North America in 2014.

Kakao says ArcheAge S is meant to carry forward the series’ focus on player freedom, large-scale battles, and its fantasy setting inspired by Jeon Min-hee’s ArcheAge novels, while reworking the formula for a newer MMORPG audience. Specific gameplay details, monetization, regions, and testing plans haven’t been announced yet.

The game joins a growing list of ArcheAge projects, including ArcheAge Chronicles, the upcoming action RPG for console and PC, and ArcheAge War, the PC and mobile MMORPG released in 2023.

For now, the only confirmed platform is PC, with a launch window of 2027.
