Apex Legends bans 906 accounts over Rookie rank exploit

Apex Legends’ anti-cheat team says it has fixed a Ranked exploit that let some players, mostly on PlayStation 5, enter matches as Rookie IV no matter what their actual rank was. The issue gave affected players no Ranked entry cost, Rookie-tier kill bonuses, an MMR value of 0, and RP gains that still counted toward their real Ranked score.

After investigating the exploit, the team banned 906 accounts and deducted 15,112,554 total RP. Suspension lengths were based on how much RP players gained through the exploit.

  • 731 accounts received 120-day bans after gaining about 4,999 RP illegitimately.
  • 107 accounts received 240-day bans after gaining 5,000 to 9,999 RP.
  • 67 accounts received 365-day bans after gaining 10,000 or more RP.
  • Platform totals were 12 on PC, 848 on PlayStation, 44 on Xbox, and 2 on Nintendo Switch 2.

The anti-cheat team says it separated accidental encounters with the bug from deliberate abuse, and players who ran into it unintentionally were not punished.

The fix is already live, and the team says it will keep monitoring Ranked for similar exploits. For players grinding Ranked, the main takeaway is simple: the Rookie IV loophole is closed, and the RP gained through heavy abuse has been stripped out.
