Aion 2 global PC release confirmed for later this year on Steam and PURPLE

NC America has confirmed that Aion 2 is getting a global release later this year. The MMORPG is coming to PC through Steam and NC’s PURPLE platform, after launching in Korea last year.

According to the announcement, this global version is being built specifically for PC rather than as a straight carryover from the Korean release. NC America also says servers will be hosted locally in North America, South America, Europe, and Japan, with support for 10 in-game languages: English, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese, Korean, Russian, and both Simplified and Traditional Chinese.

That regional server setup is probably the biggest practical detail so far, especially for players wondering how NCsoft plans to handle latency outside Korea. The company hasn’t given a firm launch date yet, only a release window of later this year.

More details are expected sometime in May. In the meantime, the game is already live on its Steam page for wishlisting.

Aion 2 is the follow-up to NCsoft’s long-running fantasy MMO series. Beyond the platform and server details, though, the global announcement is still pretty light. Pricing, business model details, and a more exact release date haven’t been announced yet.
