Supercell’s 2025 revenue dipped, but profits rose and Clash Royale had a big year
Supercell has shared its 2025 financial results, and the picture’s a bit mixed. The Finnish mobile studio reported revenue of €2.65 billion, down 4% year over year, while profits before taxes climbed 6% to €932 million.
The company also says its live games are still pulling in huge numbers, estimating around 290 million active players each month across its portfolio. Headcount grew 30% over the year, ending 2025 with 890 employees globally, and Supercell paid €220 million in corporate income taxes in Finland.
Clash Royale was the big winner internally. In Supercell’s blog post on the results, CEO Ilkka Paananen called it the “standout success” of the year, saying it hit record highs for engagement metrics like daily active players. He also claimed new players were up by almost 500% across 2025.
On the development side, Supercell says it doubled its investment in new game development in 2025, and Paananen expects that figure to “roughly double” again. The basic pitch: strong performance from the current lineup is letting the company spend more on long-term bets.
Paananen also touched on the recent decision to shut down Squad Busters less than 18 months after launch, pointing to internal pressure to take bigger swings after not successfully launching a new game for six years. He said the team’s takeaway was that they should’ve run a third, longer beta, which might’ve revealed earlier that player expectations and the game weren’t lining up.
