Wizard101 passes 1 million downloads on console after Switch launch
Wizard101 has now topped 1 million downloads across consoles, following its recent launch on Nintendo Switch. The family-friendly MMO spent nearly two decades as a PC-only game before finally expanding to PlayStation, Xbox, and now Switch.
KingsIsle announced console plans last year, and the PlayStation and Xbox releases were busy enough to bring back login queues for the first time in about 10 years. The studio also increased server capacity at the time to handle the spike, and all console players share the same servers.
On PlayStation and Xbox, Wizard101 is a free download through each platform’s storefront, with access to the game’s free-to-play area in Kroktopia. From there, additional content is unlocked either by buying zones with Crowns or picking up an Arc 1 Access Pass.
The Nintendo Switch version is a paid download at $19.99, and it includes content equivalent to the Arc 1 Access Pass.
