Zoids Field of Rebellion Overview
Zoids Field of Rebellion drops you into a sci-fi conflict where massive mechanized beasts are the main weapons of war. As a free-to-play mobile MOBA, it focuses on familiar genre fundamentals: two sides clash on a large battlefield, push lanes with AI-controlled units, and coordinate fights to break through defenses and destroy the opposing team’s base.
The game leans on the visual identity Zoids is known for, swapping typical fantasy heroes for mechanical creatures modeled after animals and dinosaurs. Between engagements, you can return to the in-match shop to spend earned currency on items, with premium currency also supported. Success comes from the usual MOBA priorities, namely managing pressure across the map, protecting your own base, and timing group pushes around team fights.

Zoids Field of Rebellion Review
Zoids Field of Rebellion is an interesting footnote in the mobile MOBA era, mainly because it tried to pair a recognizable mecha brand with the standard competitive template. Instead of humanoid champions, the “hero” fantasy here is piloting a Zoids unit, which gives matches a distinct identity even when the objectives and pacing feel familiar to anyone who has played lane-based battlers.
Moment to moment, the appeal is in team coordination. Like most MOBAs, the action swings quickly once groups start roaming and committing to fights, and matches revolve around securing openings to pressure lanes and threaten the base. The presence of minion-like mechs reinforces that classic push-and-defend rhythm, so even quieter stretches have something to manage while you wait for a better engagement.
Progression and power spikes come through item purchases, with the shop acting as the core system that shapes how a match develops. That design suits mobile play well because it keeps decision-making focused: earn currency, choose upgrades, then translate those upgrades into map control. The premium currency mention also signals a typical free-to-play structure, although the primary loop remains rooted in competitive match outcomes rather than long single-player content.
Where the game ultimately struggled is less about concept and more about circumstance. With service ending on July 27, 2018, it never had the runway to grow into a long-term competitive ecosystem, and it shut down before a broader Western rollout could happen. For Zoids fans, that makes it especially frustrating, since the premise fits the franchise naturally and the roster concept could have been expanded significantly over time.
