Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links Overview
Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links brings the franchise to a streamlined, quick-session format while preserving the core ideas that make the card battles compelling. You enter brief duels with monsters, spells, and traps, working to gain tempo and cut the opponent’s Life Points down to zero. Building your collection is the heart of progression: booster packs and frequent updates expand the card roster over time, nudging players to keep adjusting lists as new options arrive.
Advancement is also connected to your “stage,” essentially an account-level track that unlocks more features and introduces additional Duelists. The PvE side goes beyond onboarding; it serves as a consistent pipeline of quests, unlocks, and rewards that help complete decks before diving deep into PvP. For player-versus-player, Duel Links offers real-time matches across multiple modes, from ranked ladders to friendly duels for testing and practice.
Style and nostalgia are major draws. Summons are flashy, and the game leans hard into the anime heritage with recognizable characters and voice work, helping the simplified three-zone battlefield still feel authentic. If you enjoy tuning a deck over time while hunting specific staples, the economy provides several ways to earn currency and pull higher-rarity cards via the Shop.

Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links is a free-to-play mobile CCG developed and published by Konami. It was first shown publicly around Jump Festa 2016, alongside early notes suggesting a Western release was planned not long after the announcement. As part of Konami’s wider Yu-Gi-Oh mobile efforts, Duel Links ran through several test periods in 2016, starting with a closed beta in June.
After that testing, the title launched in Japan on November 17, 2016. It also saw a limited soft launch in October 2016 across select territories (Australia, Singapore, and Japan) ahead of its broader rollout. Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links ultimately reached global release on January 11, 2017.
