Severed World

Severed World is a 2D action MMORPG project that aims to blend bright pixel art with quick, arcade-style combat in a classic fantasy setting. Rather than leaning on auto-attack routines, its pitch centers on reactive dungeon runs, readable boss patterns, and replaying content at higher difficulties for better rewards.

Overview

Severed World Overview

Severed World is presented as a buy-to-play 2D action MMORPG planned for Windows, Mac, Linux, and mobile. Its overall direction clearly borrows from well-known retro action RPGs like The Legend of Zelda and Secret of Mana, pairing pixel art environments with dungeon crawling that emphasizes movement, timing, and learning enemy tells. The standout promise is that boss encounters are designed to be more than simple damage races, success is meant to come from dodging, positioning, and responding correctly to attack patterns.

Dungeon content is framed around replay value, with three selectable difficulty settings (normal, hard, and extreme) that increase both challenge and the quality of rewards. Class selection is also part of the hook, with four options listed (Assassin, Summoner, Enchanter, and the Kickstarter-only Berserker), each tied to its own skill progression and gear choices. Outside of instanced combat, the game describes an open world with six towns and quest lines, with regions inspired by Medieval Europe, Feudal Japan, and the Viking Era.

On the social and competitive side, Severed World outlines several PvP activities, including MOBA-style team fights (up to five players), guild-based castle conquest on the world map, and direct duels. Crafting, non-linear spell trees, and companions that can be upgraded and taken into dungeons round out the feature set, suggesting a mix of action mechanics and RPG customization.

Severed World Key Features:

  • Arcade-Inspired Gameplay – combat is positioned as reflex- and execution-driven, rewarding good timing and awareness more than raw stats.
  • Explore a Colorful World – travel between towns and regions with influences drawn from Medieval Europe, Feudal Japan, and the Viking Era.
  • Scaling Dungeon Difficulty – replay dungeons across normal, hard, and extreme modes to chase stronger loot and higher-risk challenges.
  • Variety of PvP Modes – take part in MOBA-like team matches, fight over castles with your guild, or settle matchups in one-on-one duels.
  • Four Playable Classes – choose between Assassin, Summoner, Enchanter, and Berserker, with distinct spell trees and equipment paths.
