The core loop stays familiar: you drop into a map, cut down swarms of soldiers, and move between control points and mission targets until the battle swings in your favor. Instead of focusing on a single protagonist, the game encourages experimenting with different warriors, each bringing their own weapon style, attack cadence, and strengths.

At the start, you align with a faction and choose from a limited set of characters, then gradually expand your roster as you progress through faction-based campaigns. The narrative framing draws inspiration from Romance of the Three Kingdoms, similar to how Dynasty Warriors 8 reinterprets those events, and the idea is as much about collecting and mastering iconic officers as it is about clearing stages. Combat emphasizes stringing attacks together, keeping enemies juggled, and building momentum through chained hits, with progression unlocking additional moves as you level up. Outside of PvE, a 1v1 duel mode is included for players who want a more direct test of timing and character knowledge.
