PVZ: Garden Warfare 2
Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 pulls PopCap’s bright, goofy Plants vs. Zombies lineup into a third-person, class-driven shooter focused on snappy objectives, distinct abilities, and a constant dose of slapstick mayhem. With fourteen different classes available, matches emphasize cooperation and complementary roles—whether you like straightforward damage, helpful support gadgets, or defensive setups that turn a lane into a chaotic cartoon showdown.

Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 Overview
Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 (often abbreviated PvZGW2) turns the usual turf war on its head by giving the zombies control of the suburbs, leaving the plants to push back and reclaim ground. As the sequel to Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare, it sticks to the same foundation—third-person shooting, hero-style classes with unique abilities, and a deliberately silly tone compared to most online shooters. Fans of the first game will recognize the pacing immediately, but this entry widens the offering with extra classes, more activities beyond standard PvP, and a larger set of modes built for quick rounds or longer progression sessions.
One of the biggest strengths here is how many ways you can engage with it. In addition to competitive multiplayer, you’ll find cooperative options, AI-filled modes for testing builds, and dedicated additions such as Graveyard Ops. The central hub also helps keep downtime low, letting you change characters, adjust cosmetics, and bounce between activities without feeling locked into a single matchmaking rotation.
Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 Key Features:
- 12 vs. 12 Online Multiplayer – battle with up to 24 players across eight distinct modes, ranging from pure combat to objective-driven clashes.
- Solo Play, Co-op, and Split-screen – play against AI alone or with friends in co-op, with split-screen available on PS4 and Xbox One as an extra way to team up locally.
- 14 Playable Classes – choose from six new additions (including Captain Deadbeard, Citron, and Rose) or return to the eight original classes from the first Garden Warfare.
- Variety of Game Modes and Maps – jump between eight modes on twelve maps, from objective pushes like Herbal Assault to more straightforward team-focused combat.
- Backyard Battleground Hub Area – use a personal hub to manage upgrades and cosmetics, grab quests, and access multiplayer activities with less downtime.

Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 Review
Garden Warfare 2 shines most when you approach it as a breezy, lightly tactical shooter instead of a serious competitive battleground. It’s easy to read in motion, with strong visual cues, big animations, and abilities that make sense quickly even if you don’t live in the genre. It’s inviting at the surface, yet still rewards players who learn when to pressure, when to anchor a position, and how to chain abilities with a coordinated group.
Picking a class is where most of the variety comes from. Across fourteen options, you have the expected archetypes—frontline bruisers, long-range harassers, and supportive kits that can tilt engagements without necessarily leading the scoreboard. Since abilities define so much of each character, success isn’t just about raw aim. Smart angles, well-timed defensive buttons, and choosing the right window for a big “ultimate-like” play can matter as much as accuracy.
Modes also shape how matches feel. Objective-based playlists tend to produce the best stories because they demand coordination around lanes, choke points, flanks, and timing. Team deathmatch-style modes are great for fast sessions and learning new characters, but they can also underline how intentionally casual the game can be—especially when fights become a swirl of abilities and unpredictable collisions. For many, that looseness is the fun; for players chasing strict esports-like consistency, it may be a sticking point.
Unlocks and progression help keep the loop going. Cosmetics and rewards arrive steadily and push you to try different classes, while the hub makes it painless to swap loadouts and roll into the next activity. The trade-off is that the minute-to-minute shooting can feel very similar to the original Garden Warfare. If you were hoping for a dramatic redesign, this will likely register more as a larger, more complete follow-up than a full reinvention.
Overall, Garden Warfare 2 is an easy recommendation for anyone who wants a cheerful hero shooter with both PvP and PvE, plus a steady stream of unlocks—without the pressure of a hard-nosed competitive ladder.
