Moonrise Overview
Moonrise takes place in a cheerful, stylized world that periodically gets thrown into danger by a phenomenon called “The Moonrise.” When it happens, normally calm Solari are corrupted into aggressive Lunari that threaten nearby settlements. Players step into the role of a Warden, a protector tasked with capturing these creatures, training them, and using them in battle to keep the chaos under control. While monster collecting games are common, Moonrise aimed to stand out by pairing the formula with MMO-style progression and competitive battles.
Moonrise Key Features:
- Pet Collecting RPG – a large lineup of Solari and Lunari to seek out, capture, and bring into your team.
- Customization – build up captured Lunari through training and upgrades, with long-term growth that includes evolution.
- Multi-Platform – released for PC and Mac, with iOS and Android support also planned.
- Strategic Gameplay – accessible creature battling with tactical choices that will feel familiar to fans of Pokemon-style systems.
- Rewarding PvP – take your trained Lunari into 1v1 fights against other players to test your builds.

Moonrise Review
Moonrise set out to deliver a modern creature-collection RPG with MMO trimmings, a bright presentation, and battles that play out in real time rather than strict turn-taking. The core loop is straightforward: explore, encounter Solari and Lunari, add new creatures to your roster, then invest time into training and tuning your team. That foundation is easy to understand, and it is the kind of structure that can keep completionists busy for a long while thanks to the sheer number of collectables.
In combat, the game leans into quick decision-making. Instead of slow, menu-driven pacing, fights emphasize using abilities at the right moment and responding to what the opponent is doing. When the systems click, battles have a satisfying rhythm, especially when you start thinking about team composition rather than simply fielding your highest-level creatures.
Progression and customization were also a major part of the appeal. Captured Lunari are not just trophies, they are meant to be shaped through training and eventually evolved, giving players reasons to stick with favorites while still hunting for new options. This kind of long-term investment is where Moonrise feels closest to other collection RPGs, but with a multiplayer framing that encourages comparing builds and experimenting.
PvP was positioned as a meaningful endgame outlet, focusing on 1v1 battles. Competitive play in creature battlers lives or dies on variety and counterplay, and Moonrise’s large roster at least promised the raw ingredients for interesting matchups. Players who enjoy tinkering with lineups and testing strategies against real opponents were the most likely to appreciate what the game was trying to do.
Ultimately, Moonrise is easiest to recommend in concept: a colorful collector RPG with tactical, real-time battles and cross-platform ambitions. Its short lifespan also means it is best viewed as an interesting entry in the pet battler MMO niche rather than a long-running alternative to the genre’s bigger names.
