Overview

Million Arthur VR Overview

Million Arthur VR is a buy-to-play, card-focused augmented-reality VR experience that uses your physical space as the stage for battles. Released for HTC Vive (with mention of other VR platforms at the time), it reimagines the original Million Arthur formula by putting its characters, spell effects, and boss encounters directly in front of you at life-sized scale.

At its core, you still build around cards that call in allied characters, trigger special skills, and provide equipment you can wield. The VR layer changes the feel of the combat, since attacks and certain actions are performed through the Vive controllers rather than purely through menus. Between encounters, the hub area leans into fan service and presentation, letting you approach familiar characters and interact with them in a more personal, “standing in the same room” kind of way, including simple gestures like patting them with the controller. The VR version also aims to justify itself as more than a port by featuring high-resolution 3D boss fights and its own standalone storyline for players who already know the mobile game.

Million Arthur VR Key Features:

  • VR Card Battling – play out card-based duels in first person, casting abilities from a virtual deck while the battlefield surrounds you.
  • Variety of Cards to Collect use a library of 100+ cards drawn from the mobile title, each bringing different effects and character support options.
  • Interact with Characters – spend time in the hub and engage with recognizable cast members through simple VR interactions and conversation moments.
  • Detailed 3D Graphics – face off against large, fully modeled bosses designed for VR, emphasizing scale and spectacle compared to the original presentation.
  • Motion-Controlled Attacks – equip weapons through cards and perform strikes with controller movement, adding a physical layer to the usual card RPG pacing.

Development History / Background:

Million Arthur VR (Kai-ri-Sei Million Arthur VR) was both developed and published by Square Enix, the long-running Japanese studio behind major franchises such as Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, and Kingdom Hearts. As VR hardware started gaining momentum, Square Enix revealed this project in September 2016 as a separate VR entry based on its mobile hit, Million Arthur, aiming to translate card-driven battles into a more physical, room-scale format. The title was planned for a Spring 2017 launch in Japan on HTC Vive, and a global release later arrived through Steam on October 12, 2017.
