Extra Dimensional War placed players in a city where hostile spirits spill into everyday life, turning familiar streets and public spaces into combat zones. As a mobile 3D MMORPG, it leaned heavily into action-RPG pacing, asking you to react quickly rather than simply auto-battle through encounters. You could choose from four characters: a katana-using girl, a swordsman marked by a demon arm, a nimble woman with a furry tail, or a rebellious dual-dagger fighter. Each option came with its own skill set and combat rhythm, encouraging players to learn combos and pick a style that suited them.

Combat emphasized direct control with real-time inputs. Players could attack while managing defensive options like dodging and blocking, and battles also featured a transformation mechanic that temporarily powered up your character for burst damage and survivability. Outside of fights, progression focused on the usual mobile RPG loop, including collecting costumes, improving weapons through upgrades and enhancements, and using shop summons to chase better gear.

On the PvE side, the campaign unfolded chapter by chapter and moved through a variety of urban locations, from underground transit areas to brighter neighborhoods and school settings. For players who wanted competition, PvP modes offered matches against other players with rewards tied to performance and participation.
