Overview

Blue Protocol Overview

Blue Protocol is built around active, timing-focused combat in a distinctly anime-styled MMO package, pairing explorable outdoor zones with instanced content like dungeons. The world aims for that hand-drawn look while still packing in lighting, effects, and environmental detail that make Regnus feel like a place worth wandering. Progression appears to emphasize flexibility, letting you change roles by swapping weapons, while also offering crafting systems and collectible companion mechanics to round out long-term goals.

A standout system is the ability to obtain monsters and call on them in battle, giving parties extra tools beyond their weapon kits. On top of that, the game promotes cooperative play through large encounters in shared maps and time-based challenge modes that reward optimized teamwork.

Blue Protocol Key Features:

  • Stunning Visuals – Travel across vivid maps rendered with an anime sensibility, where character models, spell effects, and zone design prioritize style and clarity.
  • Summon Monsters – Collect creatures known as “imagines” and bring them into fights, or use them for supportive functions like recovery and party-enhancing effects.
  • World Bosses – Join other adventurers in open areas for larger-scale boss battles that are designed around group participation and coordinated damage.
  • Time Attack Dungeons/Arenas – Take on structured PvE challenges with clear-time rankings, pushing teams to route efficiently and execute mechanics cleanly.

Full Review

Blue Protocol Review

Blue Protocol is still unreleased, so a proper scored review has to wait. That said, its overall direction is easy to understand: this is an MMO that wants moment-to-moment gameplay to feel closer to an action RPG than a traditional rotation-based experience, with responsive attacks, movement, and dodging that should make even routine encounters feel more involved.

The most promising part is how the class structure is positioned. Tying roles to weapon choices typically benefits MMO players who enjoy experimenting, since you can adapt to group needs without maintaining multiple characters. If the progression and crafting loops are paced well, this sort of flexibility tends to support longer play sessions and encourages grouping, because it is easier to fill missing party roles.

On the content side, the inclusion of world bosses and arena or time-attack style activities suggests an endgame that focuses on cooperative PvE and repeated clears for improvement. Leaderboards can add a competitive edge without requiring direct PvP, but it also means the experience will likely hinge on encounter design, balance between weapons, and how rewarding repeated runs feel over time.

The main concern surrounding Blue Protocol is uncertainty. Information has been limited in public, and the project has experienced multiple schedule shifts while Bandai Namco has discussed revisiting core features. For players interested in anime MMOs, it is one to watch closely, but expectations should be managed until there is a clear release plan and more finalized details on systems, monetization, and long-term progression.

Development History / Background:

Blue Protocol was unveiled by Bandai Namco on June 28, 2019, and it did not take long before a limited Alpha test followed to gather early feedback. A larger Closed Beta was originally planned for March 2020, but it ultimately shifted to late April instead. After that test period, updates slowed considerably, and Bandai Namco indicated that significant parts of the game would be revisited and overhauled based on what they learned.

Through 2021 and into the first part of 2022, public news was minimal, which left many potential players unsure of what to expect. Even so, Bandai Namco has maintained that development is ongoing, and the game remains on the radar for anyone looking for a PvE-focused anime MMO with action combat and flexible weapon-based roles.
