The Tale of Lost City

The Tale of Lost City was a mobile MMORPG set in a classic fantasy world, letting players pick from three base classes and then head out through quest hubs, dungeons, and competitive modes. Overview

The Tale of Lost City Overview

The Tale of Lost City was an MMORPG built specifically for phones and tablets, presented with colorful 3D visuals and a straightforward fantasy theme. At the start, players selected one of three primary classes, then customized their approach further through a two-branch specialization system. For example, the frontline melee archetype could pivot into either a swordsman or a spearman style, giving the same character a slightly different toolkit depending on preference.

Progression followed the typical mobile MMO loop: take on quests to push the narrative forward, earn experience quickly, and unlock new class abilities as you level. Combat was designed around frequent skill usage, with ability growth tied to leveling and upgrading, making character power feel like it ramped up steadily over time. The game also featured boss encounters that rewarded randomized loot drops, encouraging repeated clears in hopes of better gear.

To keep the pace brisk, an auto-quest system handled much of the travel and routing between objectives, which suited short play sessions and grinding-focused progression. Outside of PvE, players could step into an Arena mode to fight other players directly and compare builds and execution. Like many fantasy MMOs in the genre, it also included mounts for faster movement and pets that could contribute in combat as companions.

The Tale of Lost City Key Features:

  • Flexible class paths – pick from three core classes, each offering two specialization options to shape how you fight.
  • Mounts and companions – unlock mounts to move around faster and collect pets that can help during battles.
  • Skill progression – gain and improve abilities as you level, expanding your combat options over time.
  • Boss-focused rewards – take down bosses for randomized drops, with repetition aimed at gear upgrades.
  • PvP enter the Arena to challenge other players and test your build against real opponents.

Development History / Background:

The Tale of Lost City was a mobile MMORPG developed and published by Qihoo 360. It entered open beta in Q2 2016 before reaching full release on June 30, 2016. In terms of overall presentation and some system choices, it shared a few recognizable design ideas often associated with Tree of Savior, particularly the light fantasy tone and RPG progression structure. The game did not receive a Western version, and official support appears to have stopped after the final update posted on March 30, 2017, after which it was effectively abandoned.
