Old School RuneScape just launched a brand new co-op mode, The Lord of the Rings Online and PSO2 both show off their new classes, Conqueror’s Blade kicks off season 9 with some killer new units, and its that time of fear again, World of Warships starts going crazy with Halloween events.

What’s good everyone, JamesBl0nde here with the weekly recap for gaming news and announcements for the week of October 8th, 2021 and starting out the news this week…

Black Desert Online has released the second act of the new Atoraxxion dungeon: Sycrakea. The update features a new co-op dungeon challenge with a higher level of difficulty, including the ultimate and challenging boss, Centilutos. As part of the release celebration, streamers will be completing the dungeon with adventurers, and for each dungeon completed, all Adventurers will get a bonus coupon. The update is out now on PC, and arrives next week, October 13th, on console.

The third and final part of GWENT’s Price of Power expansion set is now available. Titled Harvest of Sorrow, the update’s plot focuses on the Valley of the Flowers and the end of its summer. There are 26 more cards added to the game, including four different rarities per faction and two neutrals. You can buy kegs containing these cards in the in-game store, and a full Expansion Pass is available for 30% off which includes all 117 cards, a game board, cardback, leader skin, and more.

Meanwhile, Old School RuneScape has launched a brand new co-op mode, Group Ironman, after strong player demand to bring team-based play to the Ironman game mode. So how’s this mode different? Well, teams of two to five players compete to dominate the leaderboards – and unlike regular Ironman, team members can trade resources, share storage, and visit each other’s houses. This new mode’s available to members and non-members, so feel free to check it out.

Keep your eyes out, because Genshin Impact’s getting its next major update – Version 2.2, “Into the Perilous Labyrinth of Fog,” next week on October 13th. This update introduces the last of the six islands of Inazuma, which is shrouded in dense fog and possesses new enemies to face, along with the Corrosion effect. If you’re looking for new characters, Thoma will make his debut as a Pyro polearm fighter in the second wish event of the patch – the first event features the return of Childe. Of course the patch will also feature a series of special events including a rhythm game, plus new furnishings, and Dual Sense controller support for PC.

The Lord of the Rings Online has been around for many years now, but it still has more to give its players! This week LOTRO revealed a brand new class, the Brawler. Inspired by the tale of Helm Hammerhand, the Brawler uses battle gauntlets and heavy armor to throw themselves right up to the front of melee to punch enemies in the face. This class is designed for damage, off tanking, and support alike. The class’s resource is Mettle, which helps increase the damage of your skills and unlocks the brawler’s most powerful abilities. LOTRO’s brawler will be available on October 13th for any player who has purchased Fate of Gundabad and become available for points in the store in May 2022.

Speaking of classes, Phantasy Star Online 2 has announced that the Bouncer class is coming to the game on October 13th. Man everything is coming on October 13th! This class uses Soaring Blades and Jet Boots, and does best at close to mid range combat. The bouncer is arriving as part of a larger update that introduces the first season of the Mission Pass – which grants additional cosmetics and boosts – plus a new quest type called Battledia. PSO2 will also have a Halloween event from October 27th through November 24th.

Rogue Company’s latest playable rogue, Cannon, is now available in an update that hit the game this past week. Cannon’s an all-American midwesterner equipped with a shotgun and an assault rifle. His abilities include a mountable Gatling Gun and the chance to refund ammo when shots are landed. The new update also includes some general balance tweaks, improves the EMP grenade and Incendiary Grenade, and throws in some bug fixes as well. The full patch notes are linked down below in case you want to catch up on all the details.

In other news, the ninth season for Conqueror’s Blade has begun! Season 9: Tyranny faces players against a wicked tyrant in the Borderlands. Three new types of units can be unlocked: the Shenji Grenadiers which use firearms and bombs, the Axe Raiders which can chop down trees and chuck axes alike, and the Outriders which utilize explosive throwing spears. The new season also features improvements to Territory Wars and the Prestige system, a new Battle Pass, and plenty of rewards available until October 14th in celebration of the season launch.

We all know the Halloween events are coming, and Aura Kingdom’s is kicking off with the Hauntings of Azuria. Players will need to fight off all the creepy monsters to earn rewards. There are several in-game events, from a letter collection event to new nightmare dungeons and more. You can earn bags of Halloween treats with useful consumables by taking part! Check out the full details at the patch notes linked below.

Speaking of spooky events, some familiar Operations are returning to World of Warships to celebrate the Halloween Season. The events take part in two stages. The first stage will take place throughout update 0.10.9, in which the two Operations Saving Transylvania and Sunray in the Darkness will be available. On the third week of the update, and continuing until Update 0.10.10, Warships introduces the Twilight Hunt temporary battle – a reworked version of the Big Hunt event. Take part in these to earn special cosmetics, boosts, and premium game time. The update also includes early access to new German battleships and more.

Finally let’s talk about this week’s free game on the Epic Games Store – it’s PC Building Simulator. Yes, this is for all you tech geeks out there – it’s a game all about building PCs and managing a computer repair business. This game features licensed components from the real world so if you’ve ever wanted to build your dream PC, especially right now while its hard to find actual parts for their actual MSRP, you can do it for free – unfortunately you can’t keep it in the real world, that, that just doesn’t work that way.

But with that said, that’s about it for all the major news and announcements for this week. Be sure to stay safe, and keep your families healthy!
