JamesBl0nde recaps the MMO gaming news for the week of September 3, 2021! Transcript follows.

Brawlhalla knows how to celebrate back to school in style, now’s your chance to stress test the new and improved Mortal Online 2, Heartstone’s new mode lets you train up Mercenaries to take to the Fighting Pit, and the new collaboration in PSO2 will make you want to go…

What’s good everyone, JamesBl0nde here with the weekly recap for gaming news and announcements for the week of September 3rd 2021 and a rather surprisingly short news week for us considering Gamescom has wrapped up this past week but speaking of…

Pearly Abyss revealed a new trailer for their previously announced title, DokeV, at gamescom last week! Originally announced as an MMO back in 2019, this new trailer showcases the game instead as an open world action adventure game. DokeV is supposed to be inspired by games like Pokemon with tameable monster companions to join you on your journey. While the game won’t be an MMO it will still have co-op and PvP online play options, so there’s definitely that to look forward to. No details yet on its business model or release date, but it does look pretty awesome and you can check out more at the official website linked below.

In other MMO news Wizard101 turns 13 this week!  Launched in 2008 and designed to be a safe, fun space for all ages, Wizard101 prides itself on its card battle system, the robust housing system, and constant content updates. To celebrate the momentous occasion, Wizards have been given free access to all of Wizard City and Krokotopia, in addition to giveaways and other perks.  All this right before the game is set to launch a whole new area this fall!  The 13th anniversary celebrations run from now until September 8.

Meanwhile, it’s back to school time across the country, and Brawlhalla is celebrating the occasion! The Back To School event features 11 exclusive skins including Hall Minotaur Teros and Swim Team Mako.  There’s also an exclusive color scheme available, new avatars, and more. Log in for 250 gold for free, and enjoy the balancing pass, bug fixes, and other updates that also come with this new content!

The Glacor Front is now live in RuneScape!  The newest installment of their ongoing Elder God Wars series pits players against the forces of the Elder God Wen, and sees you facing off solo against an evil ice elemental called an Arch-Glacor.  Beating this foe grants plenty of rewards, including an upgradeable tier 85 dual wield weapon set and even a boss pet!  With updated enemy animations and graphics, you can dive into the action right away.

Next up Mortal Online fans might be excited to hear about the upcoming final stress test for Mortal Online 2 which is set to start on Sept. 6 and run through the 12th. Its been 5 months since the last stress test and the game is in a vastly superior state. The team has squashed a mountain of bugs, added the much needed polish, and implemented loads of new features and content so that means new dungeons, creatures, more resources to gather, skills to train, and even a new magic school to master. Not even mentioning the balance passes to the combat system itself. This will be the final opportunity for the general public to play the game before its launch which has been set for October 26th so if you want to check it out, sign up for the open stress test from the link below.

In other news, we previously revealed information on Hearthstone’s new Mercenaries mode, which is coming soon to the game. Well, Blizzard has revealed all new information about the systems involved.  Starting with the Village, which is the hub for all Mercenaries activity, you can use the Bounty Board to accept tasks.  Instead of cards, you control up to six mercs, choosing three to engage in combat at any given time during the bounty.  Winning these bounties will help you level your mercenaries, even if they spent the entire fight in reserve.  Once your forces are sufficiently leveled you can tackle the Fighting Pit for all sorts of achievements and rewards!  Mercenaries is set to release on October 12.

Ever since its relaunch, SoulWorker has been seeing an incredible amount of updates.  Publisher Lion Games has given us more with an all new raid: Violent Sun!  Available for up to four players who are level 72 or higher, the challenge presented is far greater than anything previously found in the game.  You’ll face off against a final boss who presents a diverse range of skills not seen before in SoulWorker, so you’ll need to react quickly to take them down!  Various packages come with this update, offering support to players throughout this new raid.

Here’s a question: What do Phantasy Star Online 2 and Sonic: The Hedgehog have in common?  If you said SEGA, you’re technically correct, but more accurately, PSO2 has launched a collaboration with the spikey speedster to help celebrate the launch of Sonic Colors: Ultimate!  From now until September 28, you can receive special Sonic themed rewards, with motion cosmetics appearing in the ARKS shop for real world currency.  Also coming to the game in mid September will be the Autumnal Equinox celebrations.  Seasonal enemies will change with the update, and you can receive special currency by participating in daily tasks and defeating these new enemies.  The Autumnal Equinox celebration is set for a release on September 15.

We conclude, as usual, with the Epic Games’ Store’s free game of the week: Yoku’s Island Express. This interesting and unique title combines platforming and open world exploration with pinball mechanics as you try and discover the secrets of Mokumana island.

And one final bit of news, just to give you guys a heads up that I’m going to be Dad round two and we are officially at the end of the term so my daughter could show up any day now so when that does happen I may be out of pocket for the recap for a week maybe two, but I won’t be gone long and I’ll be sure to keep you guys updated once I get back, just might be a bit more tired sounding. Wish me luck!

But with that said, that’s about it for all the major news and announcements for this week. Be sure to stay safe, and keep your families healthy!
