Whats good everyone! JamesBl0nde here with your weekly recap for gaming news and announcements for the week of February 7th 2020. And starting out, I wanted to thank everyone who takes the time to ask how my son is doing, he’s doing fantastic, growing and learning super quick! Its hard to believe but he just turned 3 years old a few days ago on the 5th. Thanks again guys for thinking about us so often! Moving on to the gaming news…

Apex Legends Season 4 – Assimilation Gameplay Trailer: 0:47

Season 4 is now live for Apex Legends and there’s a lot of changes to go over. First up is the deadly new Legend, Revenant, who definitely has a General Grievous vibe going on, I like it. Revenant’s passive lets him move faster in crouch walk and scale walls higher than normal, but his ultimate, Death Totem, protects players from death, returning them to the totem with limited health. There’s also a few major changes to the game map, with a new Planet Harvester located prominently in the center of World’s Edge, a fissure going through Capitol City splitting it into two separate zones – that also has a functioning updraft, and the small Survey Camp which includes weapon racks with guaranteed weapon spawns. And then there’s the Sentinel, a bolt-action sniper rifle which can use its shield battery to energize its shots to deal massive damage to shields. All that kicks off Ranked Series 3, so it’s with out a doubt, an exciting time to play this competitive shooter.

Vigor – Season 2: Hunters Trailer: 1:48

On a slightly similar note, Xbox One exclusive Vigor also kicked off a new season this week. Say goodbye to Preppers, and welcome the Hunters season. One key addition in this season is the Crossbow weapon and the return of the Mosin Nagant rifle. Two new tools, the Fake Glint and the Portable Signal Detector, are also added in this season, along with a camouflaged Hunter uniform. The Vigor team has also lowered the cost of all items in the Store to make them more accessible, simplified the bullet penetration system, and applied many other balance changes and fixes.
The Cycle Season 2 – Crescent Falls Launch Trailer: 2:21

Likewise Season 2 just landed a few days ago for The Cycle. Season 2 Crescent Falls as it is called sports a new map of the same name, new fortuna pass, new archetypes, and tons of customization for your character, gravbike and droppod. The 2 new Archetypes are the Troublemaker and the Korolev Paladin who both offer up nice looking asthetics and besides these new options, you also have tons of new customization items for old archetypes like new coatings and skins for your weapons, new banners, emotes, not to mention new and different melee weapons altogether. The video you see playing here does a pretty good job showcasing the new content, although you could check the link in the description below to get all the details.

Old School RuneScape: The Nightmare of Ashihama Gameplay Trailer: 3:05

Next up, a quick update showed up for Old School RuneScape this past week in the form of a new group boss: The nightmare of Ashihama… the name alone sounds pretty menacing. This boss is actually unique to Old School RuneScape, and has a co-op focus, supporting up to 80 players attacking it at once. This might sound like a push over with that many players but it actually scales in power the more that join the fight, so it’s going to be tough either way, good luck!

Realm Royale – Deviled Eggs Update Overview: 3:35

Hi-Rez dropped a bunch of update news on us this week so let’s take a review. In Realm Royale, the Devilled Eggs update is live. This patch has changed daily quests to grant free Crowns, making it easier to earn currency to spend in the game’s shop. Speaking of the game’s shop, it now features the Fallen Bundle which includes the Fallen Assassin, Corrupted Crimson Mount, and Lil Devil Chicken. The patch also introduces rotating weekly events which can have special rules and limitations to lead to some interesting matches.

Paladins: Frog Isle Map Rework: 4:09

The Paladins team revealed the patch notes and key features of the Sands of Time update. One of the key parts of this update is a visual rework of the map Frog Isle, now featuring higher fidelity graphics and more importantly a lot of frogs. Another new feature is the Death card, which will pop up to taunt your enemies when you kill them. The team’s also going to be getting rid of Killcam and Top Play – despite having good value for the game, the team cites that they have cost “thousands of developer hours” due to constant bugs, some of which can’t be fixed without a complete rebuild. Instead the team is going to focus on the core gameplay experience, so don’t expect these to return any time soon. There’s a lot of balance changes and tweaks in this patch so make sure to find the full details in the description of this video.

SMITE: The Ascendant Warrior (Update Show): 4:58

And finally, SMITE’s next god has been revealed – the Chinese Warrior Mulan. Mulan uses a sword, spear, and bow to fight with, and gains expertise as she damages gods with each of them. That expertise further powers her abilities. Mulan can also grapple her enemies, and her ultimate is a powerful attack that dashes, roots, and knocks up her target. Mulan’s scheduled to release on February 25, so you have a little time to get down to business and defeat the Huns.

FINAL FANTASY XIV Patch 5.2 Trailer: Echoes of a Fallen Star: 5:27

Just around the corner is Echoes of a Fallen Star Patch 5.2 for Final Fantasy 14, bringing in a new Raid Dungeon called Eden’s Verse and a new dungeon called Anamnesis Anyder which is apparently a reference to another dungeon of a similar name, which makes sense naming it that. Among the patches’ all-new content are new scenario quests, which will set players toward a conclusion of the Shadowbringers story path. The patch also adds new series of equipment enhancement quests and a new trail The Ruby Weapon which sees players take on the weapon in normal and extreme difficulties. All this and more in patch 5.2 which is set to release on February 18th.

Crossout: Return of the Founders: 6:05

Crossout isn’t in the news much these days but this week they’re back with a hot new event, Return of the Founders.  This introduces the new Founders faction, rebels who refuse to lay down their arms and have a certain Mad Max flair. There’s a ton of new parts and weapons to unlock in this 75-level event, including the Omnibox cabin, a nailgun, laser drill, and plasma cutter, and more. Thankfully the event lasts until April 23 and you’ll get to keep access to the blueprints for anything you unlock, so you have plenty of time to work on collecting some badass gear.

Battle Breakers – February Overview Trailer: 6:41

Epic Games is nudging its long-delayed Battle Breakers back into the spotlight with a new update for February that finally introduces PvP. Yes, finally, after beating stage 2-1 players can duel each other in asynchronous PvP. You can spar with your friends for practice and bragging rights, but the real meat is in battling other random players which will give you Battle Pass XP and other rewards. To go alongside this the game’s added the new Dark Generals Battle Pass so it’s time to train up your team and head into the arena.

Ghosts’n DJs Launch Trailer: 7:11

And finally if you’re looking for something new and free to do this weekend, why not try out the newly released Ghosts’n DJs? This indie platformer – which takes its name and gameplay style from the classic Ghosts’n Goblins – features music both from its creator, Dr. Kucho, and the well known musician deadmau5. It’s a relatively small game with three stages plus a final boss, but has a lot of tongue in cheek humor and satire, great music, and again – it’s free! If you like the game, Dr. Kucho asks that you donate to a select group of gaming charities that support gamers in need.
