What’s good everyone, JamesBl0nde here with the weekly recap for gaming news and announcements for the week of May 28th 2021 and we’ve got three weeks of news to catch up on, so let’s get right into it…

Final Fantasy XIV is still going strong as its recent Fan Fest showcased.  The show teased even more from the upcoming expansion, Endwalker, including the much rumored new class: Reaper!  This scythe-wielder can call upon a creature from the void to assist them in combat, making them truly stand out.  Additionally, the reveal of male Viera was completely unexpected, as the race had previously been female only.  Players will be able to visit Old Sharlayan, the city of learning and previous residence to many of the game’s major heroic NPCs.  New beast tribes, new areas, and new trials are always expected, too.  Not to mention a brand new data center for Oceanic players is being launched, which will certainly bring that community together significantly!  Endwalker launches on November 23, 2021 on all platforms.

Meanwhile the Winds of Rage update is now live in Blade and Soul.  This update introduces the Thornwind Cavern dungeon, tasking players to put an end to the Thorntail Guardian Uzume’s destructive grief after Madun’s sacrifice.  Along the way, you’ll be able to upgrade your Overture talisman to a brand new tier: Skywatch!  A new daily perks system is also added to the game, which will show you which daily rewards are upcoming.  Of course, new achievements, new accessories, and balance changes have also been implemented, plus four new events are soon on the horizon!

Neverwinter’s second Sharandar module: The Soul Keeper is also out now on XBox and Playstation!  Sharandar sees players traveling to the Mended Grove to figure out why undead plague the lands.  Players must ally to take down the wicked hag Mathilda Soulstealer to rid the grove of her influence once and for all.  Not to be outdone, however, the Neverwinter team also announced part three of the series, The Odious Court.  This time adventurers travel to the Dark Fey Mire to face off against Magra Curse-eye, the wicked Green Hag.  Part three is set to launch on PC in June, with the XBox and Playstation update coming at an unannounced later date.

In other updates, World of Warships launched part 2 of the German Destroyers update, with three new ships joining the German Navy.  Featuring powerful AP rounds, these ships are an absolute nightmare for enemy cruisers.  Additionally, the patch includes the Battle of the Beasts event, inspired by German folklore.  Divided into four stages each lasting a week long, you choose one of four different teams and work to complete missions daily to bring your team to the top.  A new auction system has also been introduced to the game, giving players a chance to obtain rare items by bidding against other players.  Tons of game balance changes have also been included, as well as an updated achievement interface.  This patch is now live, so go enjoy the new ships!

Destiny 2 fans you may now celebrate, as the Vault of Glass is now live.  Locked away in the vault is Atheon, Time’s Conflux.  Guardians are tasked to put an end to this unknown Vex before it becomes unstoppable, navigating time and space to do so.  This all ties in with the ongoing Season of the Splicer event, which has Guardians working together to try and restore light to the Last City after it was plunged into darkness by the Vex.  Unlikely allies and more will surely lead to twists and turns throughout the event, which runs until August 24.

The end user license agreement for Genshin Impact has been updated!  Or, rather, Eula has been officially launched.  This 5 star cryo claymore user has had a lot of hype built around her, from looks to ability.  The Spindrift Knight of Favonius hails from a family who used to surpress its people, so why does this heiress join her enemies?  Well, you’ll just have to play her to find out!  Her normal attacks carry a sense of dance about them, which is quite interesting for a heavy claymore wielding character.  Her elemental skill is a two fold: a quick press deals cryo damage and provides a stack of Grimheart, while holding deals AoE damage in front of her, and consumes all Grimheart stacks to further decrease cryo and physical resistance on enemies.  Finally, her elemental burst deals good amount of cryo damage to all nearby opponents  and summon a Lightfall Sword.  Once summoned, each normal attack, elemental skill use, or elemental burst will charge the sword, which explodes when the duration has expired to deal massive physical damage to everything nearby.  You can summon Eula right now on her specific rate up banner in Genshin Impact!

Red is probably one of the most remembered colors in Magic: The Gathering.  The offensive potential of red creatures and spells was arguably much greater than any other color in the game for the longest time.  Magic: Legends has revealed the Pyromancer class recently, looking to harness that very feeling of destructive power that red mana embodies.  Focusing on ranged magic attacks, the Pyromancer deals heavy up-front damage, with damage over time effects to burn down enemies that survive.  Should the battle look unfavorable, the class does possess a reasonable amount of mobility to get away to launch more destruction.  Components of the Pyromancer’s kit will be found in the early levels of the free battle pass, both current and subsequent, so if red is your jam, it’s time to burn.

The Year of the Klingon has come to a close, and with it, it’s time to end the House Divided story in Star Trek Online.  Whether a Klingon or another faction, face off against the Mad Emperor J’mpok with Martok and J’ula in an attempt to reunite and restore honor to the Klingon people.  These final quests take you all across the Empire, including the home planet of Qo’nos.  Additionally, this final battle will be told from both the space battle perspective, and the task force operation on the ground. Complete the event , along with the corresponding patrols, and you can earn the powerful Imperial Assault ground set!  It’s up to you to decide the fate of the galaxy!

Season two of Rogue Company has launched, and with it comes a whole new rogue: Mack!  Mack is described as an incorruptible, unstoppable force determined to uphold justice by his creators, and you can unlock him for free simply by playing through the season.  With Mack comes an all new map to play: Breach!  This Rogue training facility was designed for multiple game modes.  Along with the new battle pass, Contracts are now available too.  Weekly contracts have been added, where you earn reputation and Battle Pass points simply by completing them — daily contracts also now reward BP points, too! If this wasn’t enough, an all new Limited time mode has also launched: King of the Hill.  This best of three, 4v4 mode requires you to secure and hold a point longer than your opponents to achieve victory.  Look forward to season 2 now in Rogue Company!

There’s been quite a bit of SMITE content the past couple of weeks. The Monstercat battlepass launched, along with a ton of new skins, including the all mighty Crab Rave Khepri skin — complete with music and stamp! Of interest to a lot of people is the Azula Pele skin, from Avatar: The Last Airbender.  This also heralds the return of the other Avatar skins too, so if you missed out before, now’s a good chance to grab them!  There’s also another new champion in the works: Morgan Le Fay! This Arthurian figure seems set to conquer Camelot and Olympus alike.  More information will be coming soon about Morgan, so stay tuned for details!

Do you know what Japan, video games, and cars have in common? If you said the name of a popular racing anime and game series, I’m sorry, but we’re talking about season 13 of Heavy Metal Machines!  This season brings four new Japanese themed skins to vehicles, plus six new visual effects, five sprays, five emotes, and two new portraits.  You can pick these rewards up by playing through the season’s battle pass.  This update is live now.

Dauntless looks a little brighter, thanks to the Infinite Radiance update!  Face off against the new behemoth: the Chronovore to secure this timeline.  To find it, travel the new island: Paradox Breaks and use Chrono-stones found from elder and primal behemoths to summon the Chronovore.  A brand new perk has also been introduced, called Pulse.  At its base level, this ensures every tenth hit is a critical hit, upping to every fifth at maximum level!  Plus a brand new legendary ability awaits, going off of the theme of time travel.  This new ability lets you rewind time by three seconds, which is the ultimate get out of a bad situation move!  Infinite Radiance is live now.

The Dark Horizon approaches in Legends of Runeterra!  From now until June 16, you can log in to play games and complete quests to advance through the event’s battle pass, collecting themed guardians, emotes, card backs, and much more. As you complete quests, more unlock, and completing the chain will give you a veritable galaxy of star fragments!  An epic weekly quest is also available with parts unlocking throughout the event as you complete their tasks. Upgrade to the premium pass in the store, and you’ll be gaining even more rewards, along with unlocking a special quest if you purchase the pass before June 2!  This update is live now, so get to Legends of Runeterra to start progression today.

Can you handle the Price of Power in GWENT?  This all new set for the popular card game is being released in three expansions every two months from June to October.  The set deals with magic, and how the various factions look for, fight over, or exploit it.  Once Upon a Pyre is the first expansion to be released, and of course it comes with all new cards, most of which are being revealed slowly up until launch.  With the release date set to June 8, expect much more news to start coming out, especially all the new cards the expansion will have to offer!

Sure, so you’ve managed to get through the Barrens in Hearthstone, but are you ready for the Wailing Caverns?  The newest mini-set is coming very soon and features 35 new cards, including four new legendaries.  Face off against iconic characters from the Wailing Caverns dungeon, alongside minions featuring spell schools and tokens that provide bonus effects such as poison, taunt, and more.  Wailing Caverns goes live on June 3 for $14.99 or 2000 Gold.

This weekend only, Company of Heroes 2 is free to keep on Steam! Better yet, you’ll also get the single-player campaign “Ardennes Assault” too! During this franchise celebration, the entire Company of Heroes line is deeply discounted by 80%.  So if you’re a fan of World War 2 based shooters, look no further, as Company of Heroes 2 provides an engaging single-player experience and a robust multiplayer mode.  This offer is only valid until June 3, so get in on the action as soon as you can!

This week’s Epic Game Store freebie is one that’s taken the internet by storm recently: Among Us!  This multiplayer game will have you trying to complete repairs and other tasks on your space station.  Seems ordinary, right?  Except someone among you is not what they seem.  The imposter (or imposters) does their best to blend in with the rest of the crew, but through sabotage and subterfuge seeks to murder the rest of the crew without being caught.  It’s a game where a well told lie can protect you, and a poorly told truth will doom you.  Get it for free from now until June 3!

But with that said, that’s about it for all the major news and announcements for this week. Be sure to stay safe, and keep your families healthy!
