Heroes of the Storm Celebrates First Anniversary

Today marks the celebration of Heroes of the Storm‘s first anniversary since its official launch on June 2, 2015. There’s a month full of activities this June to help players celebrate this milestone.

[June 2] Anniversary Promotions

• Bonus XP Event: Players will be granted an additional 50% bonus XP for games played until June 14!
• First Anniversary Portrait: Players who log in during the Bonus XP event will also be granted a brand new First Anniversary Portrait!
• First Anniversary Bundle: The shop will feature a brand new First Anniversary Bundle with deep discounts on some epic Heroes content. Check out the bundle content here.

[June 3] Global Summer Championship

The Global Summer Championship representatives from every region except North America have now been determined. This week, teams from Korea, Taiwan, and Latin America added their names to the list of qualifiers heading to Sweden to compete. This weekend, a team from North America will complete that list by proving themselves at the second NA Regional of the season in Los Angeles. Between that event and the Grand Finals of Korea’s Super League, this Heroes weekend is one that you won’t want to miss!

[June 14] Medivh, The Last Guardian

Medivh is a powerful ranged Specialist wielding arcane powers to manipulate the battlefield to the benefit of his team—and to the detriment of his enemies. With the ability to create portals for his team and become an invulnerable Raven, players will soon learn that it’s great to have this Archmage on their side.

[June 14] Rank Play Revamp, Pre-Season End, Season 1 Begins

Launching in all regions during the week of June 14, Heroes of the Storm Ranked play is pulling out all the stops and introducing a horde of new features, improvements, and rewards. With division tiers, seasons, high rank recognition, and end-of-season rewards, there is a lot in store for ranked players! Read through more details here.

[June 14] Unranked Draft Mode

Coming with our ranked revamp on June 14 will be an Unranked Draft mode. With a unique queue similar to Quick Match or Ranked modes, Unranked Draft will feature a pick and ban system similar to Hero League, no party restrictions, and its own distinct MMR (Matchmaking Rating). Our hope is that Unranked Draft will be the preferred queue for players looking to draft with a few friends or play in a more structured environment than Quick Match but without the pressures of ranked play. With this new game mode and the Ranked Play Revamp, we will also be implementing a couple of behind-the-scenes changes that should address some concerns regarding fair matches and immobility on the ladder. [June 14] Veteran Tutorial

A new Veteran-level Tutorial will be introduced to the game. It can be accessed through the “Tutorial” button in the options menu, or by selecting “Veteran” when first entering the game on a new account.
