EverQuest Next was to be a complete re-imagining of the EverQuest universe – from lore to the very technical bones of gameplay. Featuring a sandbox world where player stories evolve uniquely, an enemy AI that reacts in new emergent ways, and completely destructible environments that let players choose where to explore. However, it was canceled by Daybreak Games subsequent to their acquisition of Sony Online Entertainment.
Daybreak has simultaneously announced the cancellation of EverQuest Next and a spring launch for Landmark.
My predictions are: ESO will continue to lose its player-base until it’s forced to reconsider its payment model and will hopefully switch...
Recently, Sony Online Entertainment has released their alpha build for EverQuest Next Landmark. NDA has been dropped.
Today marks the day the EverQuest developers and the entire team at SOE can stop burying their excitement about the highly anticipated EQNext.
