New Mechanic Class joins MapleStory January 19th

MapleStory is about to get a major dose of tech, mech and fresh attitude. The Mechanic character class becomes available on January 19th and is the latest addition to MapleStory, Nexon’s 2-D side-scrolling massively multiplayer online game. The Mechanic will be a formidable force to help the Resistance in its fight against the evil Black Wings, a sinister cult dedicated to the resurrection of the vile Black Mage.

The Mechanic is a powerful new hero that will appeal to both new and experienced players alike. Mounted atop a state-of-the-art ME-07 mech, the Mechanic uses advanced technology to activate robot minions to wreak havoc on unsuspecting Black Wings. New players will love the Mechanic’s fast-paced combat advantages, including a Siege Mode that delivers rapid-fire attacks, while veteran players will enjoy the Mechanic’s simultaneous attacking and healing capabilities and the ability to navigate more efficiently through maps.

Armed with flexible ranged attacks, map movements and group healing abilities, the Mechanic proves to be one of the most versatile fighters in the struggle to thwart the Black Mage’s plot to destroy Maple World.

With the addition of three new classes (Wild Hunter, Battle Mage, and now the Mechanic), a totally redesigned leveling system and significant graphics update, the refresh of MapleStory is now complete.

Fresh off of a record-breaking month, the response to the Big Bang update proves that there has never been a better time to jump in to MapleStory. In December, Big Bang helped MapleStory hit a new concurrent player record (136,000), nearly doubling its previous concurrency record in North America. MapleStory also saw its one millionth player purchase an item in the game’s virtual shop, solidifying the game’s leadership in the successful microtransaction-based business model.

Additionally, during the first month of Big Bang updates, more than 159,000 new players have signed up for MapleStory, more than 42 weddings occurred per day, and more than 116,000 pets were purchased.

A live action video revealing the audition process for the Mechanic class is now available.
