This was a tough pick, as there are actually a handful of incredible free MMOFPS games, but out of all of them, Combat Arms is the most polished and has the most features. Combat Arms is a fast paced tactical shooter by Nexon with numerous game modes, customizable weapons and maps. The reason that this game takes the #1 slot is two fold. Firstly, it has the largest playerbase (by far) amongst free to play shooters. Secondly, it has tons of maps and game modes.
2. Alliance of Valiant Arms
Alliance of Valiant Arms from ijji is easily one of the best looking MMOFPS games out there. The graphics are top notch, the gameplay is fluid and the game has a unique achievement system. Those looking for a solid MMOFPS to try should definitely give Alliance of Valiant Arms a try.
3. S4 League
S4 League earned its #3 spot as the best MMOFPS due to its uniquely fast paced, sci fi gameplay. S4 League did something few MMOFPS games did. It is genuinely unique. The game has incredible music, solid gameplay, multiple maps and much more. The only drawback to S4 League is that there are only a handful of game modes and few items in the game’s shop. 4. Genesis A.D
This sci-fi themed MMOFPS from ijji mixes fast paced action with fun – as players can literally boost across the entire map and do wall jumps. The game’s core aiming mechanics are solid and the maps are varied. It’s also one of the few sci-fi themed MMO shooters out there.
5. Cross Fire
CrossFire is another Counter-Strike like 3D tactical MMOFPS. It has several different game modes and some addictive gameplay. Unlike other popular MMOFPS games, CrossFire isn’t very demanding on the computer, so almost anyone can play it. The game has a large playerbase and some solid gameplay mechanics.
6. GunZ: The Duel
GunZ is a classic. It’s really the first mega popular free to play MMOFPS game and is still regarded as one of the best MMOFPS games of all time, and rightfully so. 8. Wolfteam
Some may disagree with me on this pick, but the fact is Wolf Team is both unique and has silk smooth gameplay. Players can play as both large werewolves or as marines through the game with the option of transforming between both at anytime. With over 100 weapons available for purchase and numerous maps WolfTeam is one of the most polished MMOFPS games on the market.
9. Quake Live
Quake Live is basically just Quake 3 that’s launched through the browser. It has numerous additions to the game including matchmaking and a friends system. If you’ve never had a chance to play Quake 3, you should definitely look into Quake Live, as it’s a solid shooter.
10. War Rock
War Rock is an intense MMOFPS that’s currently being published by Gamers First. It plays a lot like games from the Battlefield Series, as it has an incredible amount of vehicles ranging from tanks to helicopters. War Rock is certainly worth the download

I’m mistaking.
Combat Arms is just Open Beta, and Alliance of Valiant Arms is Final, so Combat Arms is better than A.V.A., even now many says that Combat Arms is better than A.V.A. and they can even compare it to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 or Call of Duty: Black Ops or even MW3 or BF3, or Back to Karkand expansion.

i dont kno which one is better but combat arms isnt bad just hackers make me not wanna play it… every time i join a game a hacker kills the game so i quit it and im going for A.V.A

combat arms is by far the best game i play, but dont bother playing this game is full of hackers and if u try to kick them they crash the game
i stop playing combat arm because of that reason, unless Nixon can fix the game crashing people will just leave the game
i have also try A.V.A , its a good game with good graphic but i have problem downloading the game and it keep freezing on me so i have to reboot like 4 time before i can complete downloading it -thanks god its resume when i reboot my pc-
My conclusion Combat Arm is the better game but with so many hackers and the fact that they can crash games now …dont bother playing it.

dont get me wrong here, i liked combat arms, but the gameplay is weird to say the least, but the modes, wep-s, equip is just amazing, but yes hackers are ruining it, AVA was great but when u get to higher ranks the game gets very hard to play with all the long time resident players, who knows about how to kill u everything, so is kinda hard to get into the game i think, then theres Crossfire (i play this the most times, in clan there and everything) btw i think crossfire is the best solution for an FPS based mmo, cause its fun, its get under ur skin u just cant stop playing it, and when u play clan matches the whole thing got another dimension to it, then there is ONE MMO FPS NOT mentioned here and thats BLACKSHOT, man this game is i think better then combat arms and crossfire, but the SHOP system is just wrong, i dont like it very much, but the weps looks great, other then that this another CS like game, but a good one, i dont get it why theres no sign in here about this game, but there is wolfteam (my opinion, weird and stupid game)

I used to play combat arms but then I found AVA. I love the AVA graphics and gameplay, especially infected. Combat arms has to many hackers and little kids playing, but one reason these games are both good is because of limited hackers, thank goodness. Combat arms also does not have permanent weapons bought with in game earned points. I just wish A.V.A had more players.

Some of these games look like 3rd person. I know were close to massive. 64 vs 64 is NOT massive. 333 vs 333 vs 333 is massive. Planetside 2.

I played Combat Arms a few years ago and it was *VERY* fun. I’m not a FPS fan usually, but playing on the Junk Flea map was so much fun. Life called me away for a few years and I just re-downloaded Combat Arms… Yikes.
The game looks and plays completely differently than what I was used to. It’s far more ‘polished’. The half-dozen games I’ve played online have been… for lack of a better word… Strange. I can’t see enemy players before they kill me, my gun is completely ineffective, and in EVERY match so far ppl have said that the other team is hacking. For once I actually think that might be true.
I might keep trying to play, but Combat Arms lost the great, simple and fast gameplay that I really loved. I couldn’t even get a kill in this ‘new’ version even when my enemy was sitting in the corner of a room not moving. Weird.

@ #2 (this is kind of a late response): Combat Arms is full of hackers and people just use aimbots and wallhacks, and also, IT CAN NOT BE COMPARED TO BF OR COD!
Maybe it can be compared to CoD 2 but not Black Ops or MW
