Runescape’s graphics are the worst i’ve seen for an mmo and i’ve seen some pretty bad ones and yet its the most free to play mmo? What is wrong with you people? I know better free to play mmos than that such as the ones made by Perfect World Entertainment. Also Runes of magic is great to. Runescape’s old, very old. A lot of people play not because it’s top of the line, but because they’ve already invested hundreds or thousands of hours into their character, and don’t want to leave that so easily. Know plenty of Runescape players who feel that way.

Well, the game runescape provides is WAY more dynamic than the games provided by perfect world entertainment.. Runescape has skills, is less complex yet is filled with more content.. You don’t have to pay insane amounts of money to gain money and it isn’t centered around quests.. Graphics isn’t what made runsecape famous, it’s the game itself and I don’t give a rats ass about graphics..

The reason runescape is so popular is because of the massive amount of things to do in there. In cod you run, shoot, get new guns, prestige, repeat. Runescape is way different and has a replay value that games like cod have failed to accomplish. So what if the graphics aren’t great. Lets see you man-up and build your character for hours on end, and risk it all in the depths of the wilderness. Unless you’d rather, of course, run around with a gun you barely worked for and call that the pinnacle of gaming.

The graphics do suck. But then again, I am a 3d animator, and being a graphic whore is a given. If you say stupid ass excuses as to why the graphics are terrible, it gets on my nerves, but if it’s not meant to have good graphics, then it’s fine. And I highly doubt that anyone that ever worked/works on Runescape gives a rat’s ass about the graphics.
I haven’t actually touched the game in ages, but I remember it being ok. The only thing I couldn’t tolerate AT ALL were the asshole players online. Total active accounts 8.5 million, I don’t give a shit, the people are dicks.
The friends that have gotten Runescape recently say that the free content is so limited that the game doesn’t really deserve to be called a ‘free game’. Maplestory, on the other hand… the only shit talking I’ve ever heard of that game is that it’s like a 2D side scroller, and thats hardly an insult.

And the problem with people’s look on runescape is they try it for 5 minutes in 2003 and base all of runescape on that 5 minutes. You think runescape is abandoned? Its updated every day with better sound, new graphics, and overall better gameplay. Well guess what, I once played WoW and i thought it suckedd. Thats because i just started and had no idea what to do. That doesnt mean WoW isnt fun, right? People dont even get throught the (yes i will admit) boring tutorial and quit. If you get to know the game more you will find it is suprisingly fun and enjoyable.

runescape may not seem to be a very fun game at first and the graphics ay not be the best.but the reson jagex keeps the graphics of fighing is to keep with tradition.runescpe was created in 2001 btwnot 2003.it receaved 3d in 2003 and was called runescape 2. though runescape may not saeem fun at first keep playing it and you will see that the game itself needs no graphics.this is almost as copletly social site meaning that it allows you to make frineds!unlike alot of other games where all you do is fight to the death runesape is made so that no player can do everything on their own.

Want a great game something thats better than RuneScape. Return To Gaurdia. Its based off a OLD engine called FSO (First Star Online) was made from scratch. the have has about 100+ monsters, 100′s of equipment. Loads of maps. and its 2D a 5min download unless if your on Dial Up. ALL IN ALL. This game out ranks all of the other games i seen Graphics are 2D but still puts RuneScape to shame. And it updates every few weeks. NOT ever few YEARS.

RUNESCAPE deserves be at top 1, it can have bad graphics, but i guarantee that u have more fun there, then on others mmropg, i already played wow, Lol, flyff, lotro, 4story, knight online AND OTHERS, but none was so fun to play as RUNESCAPE.
PKING, SKILLS, WARS, MINIGAMES, HISTORY, runescape is top 1 at that qualities, wich are the best qualities of mmropg in my opinion.

Graphics are bad, but then, Jagex admited that it was so ANYONE could play it, and didnt need a God computer. Okay, I can let that slide in that case.
Gameplay has to be the most ridiculous I’ve ever seen. You sit there and slap each other with swords and axes. Blocking is random, and on higher lvl creatures, your attacks miss half the time. Rangers shoot almost invisible sticks at people, and mages shoot colored lugis at people. On top of it all, being a ranger or a mage is insanely expensive at higher levels.
The player community….well, don’t even get me started. Runescape is the birthplace of online assholes.
Technically, its not even free. The Free content is very tiny. A pimple on the ass of a fat chick compared to the P2P content. Yes, I understand that you get more for paying, but you expect a bit more for free in a “Free MMO”. 20 whole quests…yay…On top of it all, Free players get this little speck on the map compared too what Pay-to-Play players get. After you finish those 20 quests, all thats left to do is fight random shit, mine, fish, cook, etc.

As I said, I understand that paying=more content. But the free version of Runescape is more or less a demo compared with the P2P version. So as I said, I hardly consider it “free”.

Jagex has put thousands of hours in game development these last 4 years, Runescape has EARNED its position because of their work. Golden Joystick Award 3 times, 2 of those years in a row. Graphics are now option feature depending on the power of your computer, a vast improvement from Rs Classic or the current Rs graphics from 5 years ago. F2P vs P2P, well yes the f2pcontent is light compared to p2p, f2p content is designed as an enticement to p2p content (worth the $5 charge in my opinion). Assholeism and ingame spam is bad on f2p worlds, less so on p2p. Active accounts/active players is not exclusive to Rs, i know of 3 WOW players that have several “mule” accounts and 2 or 3 active account that they switch between depending upon which skill or event they are doing that day.

Umm… i played runescape a year or two ago for a while… and my first problem with it was the runes. idk if they have runes anymore, but i kept running out of runes without the money to buy more. I played for a year at least, but towards the end it got pretty boring. Runescape pretty much forces people to become premium players. If you ever bothered to glance at the world map, you can see that over half of runescape world is ONLY for the premium members. feel free to correct me if by some miracle runescape decided to grant the non premium members access. At least i can understand why maplestory’s second.

Runescape practically forces you to become a premium member by making most of rs world off limits and skills, quests and other stuff. Also, the community sucks. Let’s get to reality people. I’ll compare runescape to marijuana. Its a gateway drug. Most hardcore mmo players have at some point in time got stuck on runescape. well im not a runescape player. i played it for a month or so honestly. but if u ask me if its fit to be first i guess ill agree. why?
because of the content in it. mmos arnt sposed to be famous for graphics. if u want graphics , really dont play mmos. most mmos doesnt have good graphics. anyone who plays wow shouldnt even mention anything about graphics. they are sposed to be ok and not awsome. if u play for graphics , mmo isnt ur place, try xbox 360 or ps3. itll satisfy ur need. and as far as runescape goes, for a browser based game , it has very beautiful grapihcs. had it been another normal game , that would make it suck. but being on a browser changes the entire thing. most browser game doesnt have any graphics
albeit all this , what makes runescape better is the content. as i said mmos are all about contents. its about how many acticities u can indulge urself into. and in that sense yeah runescape is on par most mmos currently in the market. heck there are many mmos much beautiful than runescape but nowhere near content. that doesnt serve the purpose of mmo.
and last factor which makes runescape speical to ppls is the system requirement. its low, really low,i really doubt that i wont run on any pc in use today.

Personally, I wont lie.. Runescape has terrible graphics, I played and was bored stiff the entire time. NO BODY will talk to you, unless you are a top player or are a high level and “look cool”, MOST of the players are well under 13, and don’t really provide much conversation when they DO talk, and so that bores the shit out of me even more. I believe the quests to be mediocre, there’s almost no point in doing them because the rewards aren’t even good. Don’t even get me started on the PvP, I could laugh at that all day long.
WoW on the other hand, ( since we compare WoW and RS ) has very good graphics, and basically 4 worlds to explore that are huge as hell. With millions of quests, wonderful rewards, and ALOT of people to talk to. There are alot of trolls, but then, there is way more dedicated players that are willing to give pointers and get you started up. ( As in a guild. My guild is great, someones always helping if there’s no raid up or rated battle ground). The PvP system is great, and so is the dungeon system. The downside is they made things a bit too easy, but I guess with recent patches, that’s changed.. ( And if players complain about a certain class being OP in the forums.. and this has to be alot of people, or Blizzard recognizes it, they fix it in the next patch or two. )
So in the argument of WoW and RS, WoW beats the shit out of it. It is technically older than RS, has a wonderful community, amazing PvP + dungeon system, and pretty good graphics ( If you like the cartoonish look.)
As for F2P MMORPGS, Flyff has become shit with it’s very bad Admins / Mods, so don’t even consider that shit anymore. Many of the players are assholes, too. Allods so far is pretty good.. but it takes an hour+ to get past level 6 unless you really know what you’re doing( So for later levels, I can’t imagine how fucking hard it is). So in the F2P category, don’t really know what to say so I’ll stop there.

Leave RS alone. Why do you whine about graphics ? It’s a game running through browser .. ? Not an install in computer or run from a DVD/CD. There is your difference. And the graphics aren’t bad if you have a good computer. I have 7 years old lappie and it runs it perfect.
And to be honest. It’s all about the community. I’m 23 and I still find that community is the best part of game. Go ahead, be selfish and whine about failed accomplishments or whatever.

while runescape has improved vastly.. graphically wise, it has nosedived to the lowest depth ever.. why ?
well i’ll tell you.. it has a major infestation of macro using bots. in every single server world. so many infact that you will be hard pressed to do slayer tasks, or any other money making task for that matter.
the reintroduction of free trade, opened the floodgates to 100′s of 1000′s of bots.
this in turn has greatly affected all the prices of a great many of runescapes items, which makes it even harder to accrue any sort of wealth, ironically this forces many players to buy game money from the very bots that infest the game creating a slow but sure downward economic cycle.
how it won the golden joystick award is beyond me, the player support and interaction is non existant, the rants forum thread was removed for example, any thread complaining or ranting is either locked or removed, i myself was banned from the forums for merely suggesting players no longer reported macroers as it makes absolutely no difference to the bot numbers anyway.
runescape account security is very suspect these days, as many many players complain of being hacked and losing all their money and items, this is worrying.
my account runs out at the end of september and sadly i will NOT be renewing, i will sadly wave goodbye to what WAS a fun 5 years of gameplay, runescapes credibility is dying much like the actual game. i wouldn’t reccommend the game to new players because you will just become massively frustrated like many of us human players have become.

PLus runescape isnt free. 90% of active accounts pay for it. so its not rlly free. Next maplestory hasnt been out for as long and will easily pass runescape. im not saying runescape is a bad game or anything, its prbbly rlly fun, but i dont think its should be on this list if 90% of ppl pay. And ya maple does have way more ppl playing than that. that number is prbbly just the US and canada. maple has way more ppl playing in just asia.

I have a lvl 90+ that i played a long time ago and just built a lvl 54 for kicks. there has been no huge changes other than 1 million bots that are considered active players LOL. They try to keep you paying a membership by forcing you to chop a billion trees or as many fish etc. It is not free to play like pwi where the entire world is open to all players!

I’ve played Runescape before, let me rephrase that, I was possessed by Runescape. I’ve had an account since its debut in 2001, and I continued to play until 2009. See you can bag on Runescape’s graphics if you want just remember, it is a browser MMORPG, which means no download. Jagex has sacrificed enhancing the graphics to have a good lag free game. On it’s F2P side there’s 30+ quests, 1000′s of hours of skilling, and a pretty large map size compared to other MMORPGS. It isn’t a game for the occasional gamer, it was designed for gamers who like to dedicate years of their lives to say hey “I maxed this account.” or “Hey got my first 99″. If you give it a chance, read some forums about it, and try not to think, ” THIS IS GAY!!!!”. You’ll find it quite entertaining, and enjoyable. Just remember, you have been warned, it will have you hooked in a short time period.

I bet all the people who like Runescape have either never tried any other MMO and are speaking out of ignorance or have tried only the worst. Sure every MMO gets boring, but the quality should be rated strictly on how long the game has your interest for. I started playing other MMO’s like Anarchy and Ragnarok and TwoMoon etc… then I tried Runescape. With other MMO’s I would stop after a year, 3 years, 5 months, but Runescape was 1 month…because it sucks, not just the graphics, but everything and please don’t make me list, just everything is worse. The newer updated graphics in runescape are acutally amazing, for a browser-based java game. All you people complaining about the graphics has not seen it for atleast 2 years, search runescape graphical update or whatever on youtube so you can see the changes. I have studied 3d modelling/graphic art in over 10 years and i have made quite a few games, so i know what good graphics are. Unless you have a clue, do not complain about something.

All y’all complaining (or complimenting) runescape or jagex… should visit the runescape forums now…
They lost last year’s GJA for a reason… and they won’t ever win it again… for obvious reasons… having nothing to do with the graphics..
There are many reasons the game went to hell.. only one of which is the founders sold out. However, now that they’ve added microtransactions… and all things considered… they won’t be making a comeback.. they haven’t got it in ‘em!

ugh guys this is based on mmohut’s opinion so it doesn’t mean the whole world has to agree with mmohut. Also I would like to prove “wtf” right and “jrios” wrong because just because people voted for it does not mean they play it. They probably just like it but they don’t actually play it. People are not the same as Players.
