Top 5 Best MMO Sports Games
Like all other sub genres of the ‘Free MMO’ / ‘Free MMORPG’ industry, MMO Sports games have grown considerably over the last few years. More and more big game publishers are releasing their own MMO sports games. As it stands, there is no one ‘mega popular’ sports MMO game that dominates the market, but rather a whole bunch of smaller ones that are competing for market share. This would have been a top 10 list, but there aren’t that many sports MMOs out there, so it’s a top 5 best MMO sports games list instead. The top 5 Best MMO Sports games list below was compiled using review data from across the internet and from our own reviews here on MMOHuts.
Top 5 Best MMO Sports Games
#1 FIFA Online
FIFA Online is a serious 3D soccer (Football to all you Europeans) themed MMO published by Electronic Arts. It’s one of the first free to play sports games from Electronic Arts. Like the FIFA games franchise on traditional consoles, FIFA Online has incredibly high production value. The gameplay is fun and fluid and the game has enough depth to keep players coming back. Definitely give this game a try if you like sports MMOs.
#2. FreeStyle Street Basketball
This is a more traditional ‘Sports’ MMO and sort of a hidden gem. Not too many people have heard of FreeStyle Street Basketball, but in my opinion it’s one of the best sports MMOs out there. As the name implies, it’s a basketball MMO and currently the only basketball MMO, so it gets points for creativity and uniqueness. Honestly, you don’t even need to like basketball to enjoy FreeStyle, it’s an easy game to pick and up and learn and a game I personally recommend checking out.
#3. MLB Dugout Heroes
This is actually one of the newest sports MMOs on this list and one of the best on the market. If you’re a fan of baseball, MLB Dugout Heroes is without a doubt the best Baseball MMO on the market, as it has simple gameplay but enough depth for baseball fans to pour over. The game has authentic MLB rosters, teams, divisions and more. If you’re into baseball, there’s no reason not to give MLB Dugout Heroes a try.
#4 Fantasy Tennis
Fantasy Tennis is an addictive cartoony / anime styled Tennis MMO with numerous game modes and simple gameplay. If you’re a fan of tennis games, there’s no reason not to check this game out. As it stands, Fantasy Tennis is the only Tennis MMO on the market, so it also gets points for uniqueness. Think of Fantasy Tennis as a ‘Mario Tennis’ for the PC with MMO features.
#5 Audition Online
Okay Okay, I know that ‘dancing’ isn’t commonly associated with the word ‘sport’, but out of all the categories on MMOHut, ‘sports’ is certainly the most accurate category for all of the dancing games on the market. Audition Online is basically Dance Dance Revolution in MMO format. Players can create their own avatars and participate in dance battles online. The player with the quickest fingers is usually the winner. Audition Online is published by Nexon, a rather big MMORPG publisher, so players can expect frequent updates and bug fixes.
