This one shouldn’t be much of a surprise, as Runescape really is the undisputed king of the browser game genre. The game boasts over 130 million accounts worldwide with over 8.5 million of them being considered ‘active’. Runescape has a lot of haters out there, but the numbers speak for themselves, Runescape is the most popular free browser MMORPG on the market. It’s also quite fun and one of the most content rich games I’ve had the chance to play.

Fusion Fall is a 3D Sci-fi MMORPG with great graphics and a large game world. It has some of the best production value of any browser game out there and enough content to keep players busy for a long time. Fusion Fall is Cartoon Network’s first big MMO game and features numerous popular character’s from the channel’s cartoons. Even though the game was largely designed for a younger audience, Fusion Fall is a great game well worth checking out for gamers of any age.
#3 zOMG!
zOMG! is a popular anime style browser game with enormous potential. Players use powerful rings to battle enemies. The game was developed by the same folks that made the extremely popular Gaia Online virtual world / community. Sherwood Dungeon is a simple yet entertaining fully 3D Fantasy MMORPG. The game actually has surprisingly good graphics and a large enough game world to keep players entertained for quite a while. Travian is just a wanna-be-good-and-popular game … You can obviously see that the creators are desperate to be popular with the game , no duh all those advertisements.
And besides that it has BAD graphics and it SUCKS ..

All of these suck besides Adventure Quest Worlds if you need some good games you would have a better time playing my little pony Try Adventure Quest Worlds if you are looking for a non-download. Travian sucks soo hard, the combant system is like ” the biggest attack based troops wins the battle”. And their US forums are full of mean people who say random mean words for no reason. Their all just bored, so they flame. Someone in the forum said that 3 years ago, every one there is someone who gets banned. The staff aren’t good at banning people. heck they don’t even ban people all all! They are all mean! I wish I could get the police to arrests these guys.
PS. The flamming has gone for more than 3 years, isn’t the violence actions in the forums equal to the violence actions in real life? I think they are and they should be charged.

RuneScape is in it’s own league and it pisses a lot of people off. Like, there would be the top 10 list, and RuneScape’s name would be gold plated above the list; set as the default for “Must Play”.
Don’t believe me? I will only name 2 accomplishments, just 2. And that’s all you’d need.
1.) RuneScape/Jagex is recognized by the Guiness Book of World Records for being the most popular free MMORPG on the planet… 2 years in a row.
2.) Jagex has won the Golden Joy Stick award in the UK twice… consecutively.

Well hater, they beat Lion Head Studios 2 years in a row. You know, the developers of one of the most successful RPG series of our generation, Fable? It’s featured prominently on the XBox 360? Sold millions of copies? Well Jagex beat em twice in a row.
Maybe when other games get near that level, they could be taken into some kind of consideration on a list near RuneScape’s name. Anywho, haters gonna hate. They can do what they do.

Agreed. RuneScape is HUGE. It’s by far the most successful browser game out there (and arguably the best). It has a ton of content and things to do. I think the game gets too much hate for no real reason =/.

Dunno, this is matter of opinion, but many people say that Travian is good. I disagree. Is very exciting in first look, first of TONS of advertisments, second because of BOTTED popularity (bot- unreal player) and third because of very simple game system, so is easy to run anytime on anywhere. But is not great. Very boring when you got no enemys and you are big guy there, or very hard if you swap with the big guys… Its annoying! Actually the game have no BALANCE.
BTW Runescape is real winner, and also GAIA made a perfect job again (zOMG). And where is PoxNora? :/

Well personally, I am a hater of runescape, but I still believe it should be on top, with the biggest account base in MMORPG (135 million), but considered only 8.5 million active, therefore, it has fairly owned its rank as the top mmorpg browser, as it is named “The king of browser games*, followed by travian, and a few other games, then comes AQworlds a really awesome game that offers new content and items that are weekly updated, it is my personal favorite browser game.

The problem with Runescape is it’s stupid players. I am fine with Runescape being first on this list as it’s not f2p list and the game is great when u have membership (played it for years, was even in top 1000 at some point), but a lot of time in the f2p game lists Runescapes always comes up near the top and people list all these great features apart from they list all the ****ing member ones and they don’t understand why people flame them and think Runescape players are all stupid kids. Runescape with membershit deserves first place but free Runescape sucks so much, you run out of quests very soon, there is very little equipment and that makes everyone look the same and you end up grinding same 2 monsters after lvl 60 ish.

- Rep quests are to low, keeping players to grind in one spot day in day out
- game feels solitary in alot of map areas
- Players unwilling and unfriendly towards new players
- Way to many weekly events with spammy items
- Membership exspires, you can no longer use any members items you brought. You can keep them, you just can’t use them until you renew your membership.
- PvP is the lamest attempt ever. If your losing, just log out. You don’t get penalised for this nor do you lose xp or points. Lame

In my opinion, runescape should deserve to be at the top but it shoudln’t too..
Many people hate playing it because they are forced to grind on the same monsters after lvl 80…Plus the new dungeon is boring..AQ worlds is ok but gets kinda weak for the mega gamers when you get to high levels…travian sucks because its to obvious…
Kingdom of loathing is ok >BUT< it sucks when you get to lvl 13 ish…
ZOMG! (Gaia) is fine but the cash and stuff is lame because it finishes quickly and you earn them for every battle..(5 – 40 gold)

Runescape needs a good connection to enter because it loads like hell…MUCH OFFENSE!
Jagex doesn't want to make a game that can use slow connection,medium or fast.

Now JAgex..you listen here and you listen good…Make a game better than runescape because there is atleast 10 million people that hate runescape and only 8.5 mill playing daily so either you make a game with good connection and no membership or the rate drops from 8.5 million to 200k…

guys i cant understand why you guys are criticizing runescape for limited free to play, while releasing a movie they only release promos for free they dont release the whole movie for free, if runescape is free for all jagex will go bankrupt in months and you want improved graphics and new updates but wont pay for them how is that fair?
that crappy 1 add banner in f2p can run the whole company, the 6$ per month is much better that 50$ + 15$ for wow.

I get why people are mad at Runescape, but it should be noted that f2p is considered a demo, and seeing as its only $6 its not really that big a deal. Would be tons better if they broke away from Java!
And the sadly, the community sucks, its full of people begging for money and trolls, and the botters-not real players- ruin the game for a lot of people, but this is only really a problem for skillers or med-high level players imo.
Btw, I do play Runescape lol, obsessively.

Well, despite the fact runescape has a really rude community, the gameplay seems really cool. And we can’t blame runescape for having a rude community.
